We’re officially in February, which means Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it!
Holidays at Disney World mean a few different things. You can typically expect special decorations and merchandise to celebrate the holiday, and then there’s OUR favorite part — the seasonal treats! Or…we at least think they’re seasonal. Sometimes, Disney likes to “reimagine” old snacks to be new. Remember this Halloween drink that had an identity crisis?
We headed over to Creature Comforts in Animal Kingdom to try a new “seasonal” treat. Not only can you get your caffeine fix here, but the bakery offers some specialty items like the Cotton-Top Tamarin Cupcake! Today, we’re trying a Valentine’s Brownie topped with a Mousse Dome that’s available for $5.49.
Strawberry mousse sits atop a chocolate brownie, and it’s topped with pink, red, and white heart sprinkles! Chocolate ears add a fun touch to the mousse dome, and buttercream piping outlines where the dome and brownie meet.
Before we dive in and give this a taste, we HAVE to get something off our chests. This dessert looks…oddly familiar. In fact, it looks just like the Santa Mickey Mousse that Creature Comforts offers throughout the holiday season. Maybe Disney thought if they threw some heart-shaped sprinkles on top, it would be a clever disguise? But nooo — the desserts are literally twinning! Seasonal imposter: spotted.
We’re REALLY confused by this reincarnated holiday snack, but we’ve given it a hard enough time. And technically the fillings are different: this one is strawberry mousse while the Santa Mickey Mouse was white chocolate peppermint. Okay Disney, we’ll give you credit there. Let’s give it a taste!
The brownie itself was VERY dense. It’s not the ooey gooey type of brownie that some of you might be in search of, but it’s still worth a try! The strawberry mousse was actually our favorite part. The fruity flavor was there but didn’t overpower the dessert! It didn’t look like there were any real strawberries used in the mousse, but they may have been hidden because there was no artificial flavor or aftertaste.
This treat was tasty, but we can’t get over how similar it is to the Santa Mickey Mousse. If you’re missing the holiday season a little extra, it may be worth it to swing by Creature Comforts and grab one of these! It certainly puts us in the Christmas spirit.
