Disneyland has been closed for almost a full year.

While Disney World was able to open last summer, strict theme park reopening guidelines in California have kept Disneyland closed. Now, lawmakers in California are looking to change that.
According to Orange County Register, California state assembly members have proposed a bill that would speed the reopening of Disneyland and other major theme parks like Universal Studios Hollywood.

The bill would override Governor Gavin Newsom’s previous guidelines that separate theme park requirements by the size of the park. The bill, co-sponsored by Assemblymembers Sharon Quirk-Silva and Suzette Martinez Valladares, would allow all theme parks to reopen in the same tier of Newsom’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

With the current guidelines, small theme parks (fewer than 15,000 visitors) can open in the orange/moderate tier of state health while large theme parks cannot reopen until the yellow/minimal tier. These guidelines would likely keep Disneyland closed through spring or summer. As more information on this bill is shared, we will be sure to let you know.

As much as I want to go I will wait at least a year after I’m able to get a vaccine

Hopefully we can recall Newsom, but if not this needs to happen. People are suffering because they can’t work. If WDW can do this (and we have been there twice since September) then Disneyland should be allowed to do this too.
California had a much higher rate of Covid cases than did Florida. Disney world has had strict guidelines for visitors to their park.
While I do NOT support the recall of Governor Newsom because he has done a great job keeping us Californians safer from Covid & that previous disastrous Federal administration, I do think that because Disney has been able to succesfully open the Florida parks shows that it could be done here. Alhough once you get outside of WDW, most of the rest of Florida has a “do whatever you want” policy as to Covid, so I won’t be heading down there any time soon. It’s been just short of one year since we’ve been down to Disneyland Resort so I’m SO ready to go.
