Some changes have been made to a longstanding Disney World offering!
Key to the World Cards have been a Disney guest’s ticket to Disney World (their room, their park tickets, and more!) for years. They became a little less common with MagicBands, but now that complimentary MagicBands are no longer available, more guests might be using these cards once more. Now, they have a new look too!
We spoke to a Cast Member at the front desk of our Disney World resort hotel today and they showed us that the Key to the World Cards have NEW designs featuring your favorite Disney characters!
These designs look VERY different from the old design of the Key to the World Cards. They’re a whole lot more colorful, that’s for sure.
Daisy, Pluto, Donald, Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy are each their own design. According to the Cast Member we spoke to, you cannot request a card or swap. What you get is what you get!
As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates from Disney World!

Wonder if the cards will be able to be linked to you like the magic bands were. That way you could use them on future visits and skip the check in and getting another with each trip
Old cards were quite generic
I always liked the cards. Once your park tickets were added, the Magic band was nothing but a marketing fad. 10 years of priming the pump by providing guests with a FREE Magic Band and then they have you… and now guests will pay for the Magic band… genius….
If you request a Key to the World card, can you still use an old magic band?
Susan, you should be able to go into My Disney Experience and activate an old MagicBand, yes.
The new goofy is awful, that doesn’t look like goofy to me, they keep slapping these kiddish cartoon versions on absolutely everything. That really says disney world to me!!! not. They have lost so much sight.
something for the 50th year would have been nice instead, I dont understand them I think they are totally clueless anymore.
These look fun. The designs that so many object to are actually closer to the original renditions of the characters (just look online for images of original Goofy, etc.). I hope they will strive to give each person in a family a different character to make them easier to sort. While I agree that a 50th anniversary card would have been nice, I can understand that they are going to make many millions of these in bulk so they want a design that will last for a few years.
Funny story about the old key cards. We had left WDW and stopped for gas after about an hour. My husband was cursing at the gas pump because it was rejecting his credit card – but of course, he was inserting his TInk-themed key card so no go. We laughed about it because we thought if there was a little pixie dust left on it, we might have scored a gallon or two with Tink.
