We’ve seen some pretty wacky Disney merchandise over the years!
We’ve seen things that were crazy expensive, things that we didn’t understand, and things that were downright weird. Recently, Disney released a new line of shoes that we looked at and thought, “Surely those can’t be comfortable, right?” So, for science, we bought ourselves a new pair of those Native brand shoes, and we tested them out in Disney World!
In case you missed it, Disney recently did a collaboration with the shoe brand, Native, to make some stylish Mickey and Minnie Mouse-themed footwear. They look sort of like Keds, except they’re made of rubber! They’re hand-washable and recyclable, meaning they’re supposed to be great for kiddos. The moms on our team have mentioned that these are a BIG deal in the parent community, so we had to try them out!
We’ve seen four different styles so far. There’s a Minnie Mouse print for women and a Mickey Mouse print for men (these are the ones we purchased and they can be worn by women as well)…
…and then there’s a Mickey print and a Minnie print for children. The adult shoes are $54.99 each and the kids’ shoes are $44.99.
You can purchase these in the parks and online.

After these launched, we received several questions from our followers about them, many asking the same thing we did — are they comfortable? So, to get the answer to that question, we put up a poll on Instagram and asked our followers to choose which adult-sized pair we should get. They decided the Mickey Mouse design was best, so here we are… .
These shoes don’t come in half sizes and our reporter who tested them is usually a 5.5, so she sized up to a 6. We tried them out for a few days in the Disney World parks, and we’ve got some thoughts!
Since the shoes were a half-size too big, our reporter found that they started to slip off her feet a tad around the heels. If she could’ve gotten her proper size, she thinks that they would’ve fit just right and be a lot comfier. As they were, she lasted about 2-2.5 hours each day wearing them — but that’s with walking a TON of steps!
She started to get a small blister on the front of her foot partway into the first day, so she tried covering it with a Band-Aid. It wasn’t the most effective solution, but on day two, she started things off with some waterproof bandages, and that worked much better! We somewhat expected this going in, and this just goes to show why we don’t recommend breaking in new shoes at Disney World.
Throughout each day, we were stopped by several guests with comments on the shoes, saying how cute they are and asking where we got them, so that was a definite perk! We also didn’t have to worry about getting them wet, so they may be good for rainy days. We think that kids will really love these, as long as they fit their feet properly and they’re broken in.
However, there were some big downsides. These are pretty narrow sneakers and they don’t have much “give.” Therefore, if you have a wide foot, you may not be able to get your foot inside. Also, they have very minimal arch support, so those with pronounced arches won’t be comfortable for a long period of time!
Even after all of this, at the end of our little test — we actually liked them! They’re fun, cute, and add a quirky little touch of Disney to your outfit. We don’t recommend trying to break them in while you’re in the parks, so if you plan on wearing them on vacation, bring a backup pair of shoes.

The one question we still have left is “are they worth the $55 you pay?” Unfortunately, we can’t really answer that directly for you. If you love them and wear them all the time, then probably! But on the other hand, if they make your feet miserable and you’re planning to purchase them and break them in at Disney, you may wish you’d never spent the money. It’s really on a case-by-case basis. It’ll depend on your shoe preferences, the size of your foot, how much you’re walking each day, etc. Either way, we had a great time testing them out and we’ll probably wear them again!
We hope that review helped you make a decision on whether or not you should buy these new shoes. Let us know your thoughts on them in the comments! Also, make sure to let us know what other products you want to see us review in the future!

They are really cute. My question is since they are made of rubber, do they make your feet hot and sweaty? Would a no-show sock help?

Did they make your feet sweat?

Natives are the best! my little boy lives in them. They are so easy to clean, durable, and not to mention easy for kids to get on and off themsleves. I am praying my little boy does not see these when we visit Disney in May becuase I know he will be begging for them….and we surely do not need another pair. Natives are pricey for kid shoes (even the non Disney ones) but they are so worth it.

My kids and I love these shoes and have been wearing them for around ten years now. I feel they are more of a beach/boating shoe and not necessarily meant to be worn for extended periods of walking.

Do they make your feet sweat? They look like they will? Super cute but I am concerned about the blisters too! Hate blisters!
Thank you!! Hope you are doing well!!

Disney native shoes Minnie and Mickey love them to much money for myself it would be good instead of flip flop . Ever thing at Disney is $ 50.00 or more to pay there is less cost but I would not be interested . I buy shirts that is good quality in the parks I have shirts that still look great . Disney has to realize that there merch is to expensive for a lot of us .

I just got some Biions that I am trying to break in be for WDW, they are also rubber but look more like dress shoes. They also have a partnership with Disney and have Mickey Mouse and Star Wars lines. They also only come in half sizes and suggest going down a size. I like them way better then the Crocs that I had (they were mary jane style). I wore them to work yesterday and got lot of compliments. After about 5 hours of wearing them my feet were done but I think that they will work well in the future.

Folks asking about sweaty feet: I’ve asked the editors to go in and add this info for y’all!

Okay, here’s the scoop from our onsite reporter: she’s found they make her feet a little sweaty but not horribly so.

I really appreciate the comment section is also part of the sweaty feet club asking if they will make your feet sweat. They look cute and breathable with all the holes so I would be curious how they’d feel walking all day. Brave to wear shoes that aren’t broken in to Disney!!

I have the red Minnie NATIVE shoes. Yes… they make your feet sweaty. I have been wearing them for the last two weeks to get them broken in for our April trip to WDW. I have worn them with and without no show socks. The socks have helped with stretching them out and the sweaty feet. For blisters, I recommend Mole skin. It works better than band aides . We always take it on our WDW vacations. I used some mole skin on my instep since that is where they initially rubbed. Now they feel fine. I wore them to Sea World for about four hours and was fine. The shoes are super cute… pretty comfortable and I will definitely enjoy wearing them in the parks. 💁🏻♀️

I have a 2 year old pair that are well broken in that I plan to wear this summer to Disney. Even just wearing them at home to break them in caused a bit of blistering, but now they are perfect!

If your shoes rub, or you think they might, rub the area with your solid deodorant. This trick really works!

I like Native brand’s style. I love how colourful they are. And they are from Vancouver which is awesome. They are good for people working in aquatics which is what I need. I have several pairs, some for my kids and me. However they seem to be focusing too much on style now, sadly. I came across this website because I had some spam in my inbox flagged by google, it looked like a legit promotional email but I wasn’t sure. Coming across this I see it was a mistaken flag. But you can’t blame the google spam filter, it sure is a hype email and not really what I signed up for. I was hoping that good quality waterproof shoes designed in vancouver would be a win. But I guess they just want endless growth at the expense of quality – as evidenced by this corporate branding exercise. It would be fine if the fit was good but this review is spot on from my experience as well. Very cute shoes but way too narrow! I also have wide feet. And many many people in the world also do. I wish stylish shoe brands would make shoes that fit. Much like the reviewer, I WANT to love Natives but it’s a dealbreaker if the shoes don’t fit and are hurting my feet. Too bad. I hope they turn direction soon. There is no shortage of examples of brands that overextended focusing on trends instead of fundamentals and then crashed and burned. Crocs is a great example, they almost went under, not too many years ago. Please make shoes that fit Native! So we can all love you again.

My toddler has refused to wear Natives for over a year. (Through different sizes and with many color choices!) Based on his crying reaction, there’s no way I’d even think about wearing these on a park day, especially brand new and not yet broken in! Ouch
