One thing about Disney World that continued to AMAZE us is the array of hidden details and fun surprises!
You’ve heard of Hidden Mickeys before, but how about Hidden…Pirates? Well, sorta. We found a hidden detail in Magic Kingdom today that even the staunchest Pirates of the Caribbean fans probably haven’t seen!
From whimsical tire tread to adorable rodent-themed benches, “hidden” details tend to pop up in Disney World where we’d LEAST expect them!
The latest example of this is something so small and nondescript that it kind of blew our minds…we’re talking about the Pieces of Eight from Pirates of the Caribbean!
If you’re asking yourself, “Wait a sec, I thought that was only in the movies?!” then join the club. The gift shop outside the ride in Magic Kingdom is so overloaded with seafaring merch that it’s easy to overlook, but one of the medallions from the Pieces of Eight is actually dangling up near the ceiling!
If you look for the row of ornate bowls, by one of the pirate skulls, scan to the right and you’ll spot the fancy trinket! Who knew?!
This is yet another reminder that Disney World is FULL of endless surprises and delights, and to be on the lookout for these cool details!

Barbosa’s sword is also on display. Ask a cast member to point it out for you. Its on the wall up high near the ceiling.
There is so much detail in pirates of the Caribbean that it seems impossible to see all. The ride is very short you could spend the whole day going on it and still miss some of the details. Great ride by the way . One of my favorites!
