Disney World has undergone several policy changes lately.
Those include new mask rules, the removal of temperature checks, and the reduction of social distancing. And we’re bound to see evidence of those shifts on property. Earlier today, we took a look at how social distancing has changed in the parks. Now, we’re takin’ a peek at signage!
Before we take a look at the signs, let’s do a quick recap of some of the big changes that have happened recently. First, Disney has changed their face mask policy. Masks are no longer required in outdoor common areas, but continue to be required upon entering and throughout all attractions, in all theaters (including theater entrances), and in all indoor locations (including transportation entrances).
Second, Disney has removed temperature checks.
And third, Disney has announced that it will be gradually reducing social distancing. Specifically, Disney has noted that they will be reducing social distancing in many areas with a “gradual, phased approach.” Six-feet distancing measures, however, are set to remain in dining locations, merchandise stores, and places where Guests can temporarily remove their masks.
Recently, we’ve seen Disney making changes to some of the distancing signs throughout property as a result of this change. Some distancing markers have also been gradually removed.
And we’ve seen distancing rules changed in select shows and at certain attractions.
So, what do the social distancing and safety signs look like in Disney World right now? We’re going to give you a look!
For our deep-dive into signs today, we hopped over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. And we kicked things off at the bus stop, where the benches still have reminders to social distance.
Similarly, where the line stretches to board the bus, a sign tells guests to keep 6 feet apart. However, social distancing markers in that line have been removed.
Inside the hotel itself, signage still states that the elevator can accommodate 1 party or 4 individuals per trip. Nothin’ new here!
Outside at Uzima Springs Pool Bar, a sign tells guests to wear their masks (even though it is technically an outdoor location).
You’ll also see signs around property reminding guests to wear a face covering at all times while indoors. This is a relatively new one, so it’s still popping up in various places. We spotted this one in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Previously, many mask signs reminded people to wear their masks at ALL times (both indoors and outdoors), except when actively eating or drinking while stationary.
Lastly, we’ve spotted some social distancing signs with the “6 feet” part taped over, as Disney gradually reduces distancing. These updated signs now just remind guests to keep some distance between each other, without a particular number specified. We found this one in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
In some places, that “6 feet” reminder remains. It seems that Disney is covering and/or changing many of these signs to remove that “6 feet” requirement (just as they did on their website), but hasn’t completed the process just yet.
These signs are starting to reflect Disney’s new mask and social distancing policies, and they offer you a good reminder if you’re a little uncertain which rules apply where!
But, many of these changes are being made on an ongoing basis. That means you may still see some signs with the “6 feet” requirement and others that already have it covered up. In some places the 6 feet will no longer be required, but you’ll also want to keep in mind that Disney has noted 6-feet of distancing will continue to be required in some areas.
Also, our look today was mainly at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, with a bit of a peek at some changes we’ve seen elsewhere. We have started to see more distancing changes made in other locations, like on select forms of Disney transportation. We’ve seen distancing markers removed from the Ferry that takes guests between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom…
…as well as on the walkway to the monorail at the Transportation and Ticket Center.
We expect we’ll continue to see more changes made regarding distancing signs and markers as Disney gradually makes changes throughout the resort.
It’s important to keep an eye out for any nearby signage to help guide you through these changes so you can make sure you’re following those rules at any given time. And if you ever have any questions about what the policy is for a specific area, be sure to ask a Cast Member nearby.

Mask should be optional everywhere.
That’s a shame about the reduction of social distancing. As someone who values his personal space, one of the few benefits of the pandemic has been the blissful amount of distance in between me and the rest of humanity. I shall miss it.
Dave, I personally agree… from a distance.
