Character dining has slowly but surely started returning to the Disney Parks!
Restaurants like Chef Mickey’s, Tusker House, and Hollywood & Vine have brought back character dining in Disney World, but now it’s time for Disneyland! The Plaza Inn in Disneyland is bringing back character dining in August, but another restaurant’s character dining returns TODAY.
We’re headed to Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel for the Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast!
Let’s take a look at what character dining looks like in Disneyland right now!
When we arrived at the restaurant, we checked in on the Disneyland app. Shortly after we checked in, we received a text letting us know that our table was ready! We headed to the check-in desk and were seated by a friendly Cast Member.
There were tables and booths available for seating!
But let’s take a peek at what we’re really here to see — the characters!
Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast features — you guessed it — Mickey Mouse!
We also spotted Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and Dale!
The characters were distanced (like we saw at Tusker House in Disney World), so they paraded around for about five minutes and then broke off to visit tables (also from a distance). You can take distanced selfies, but they will not approach your table for hugs and autographs.
They’d stop sometimes for a little dance party or to say hello! The parades were about every 15 minutes.
We were so glad to see these characters back in Disneyland! And another unexpected dining experience returned too at Storyteller’s Cafe — the buffet!
The character breakfast is all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet! Some other reopened buffets have switched to family-style dining, but Storyteller’s Cafe is serving buffet-style breakfast! Adults are $49 per person and kids are $29 per person. We were given a QR code menu like we’ve seen at just about every restaurant and pulled up the menu on our phone.
The menu features all sorts of breakfast items including cold and hot items…
…as well as Served Selections including a Vanilla Yogurt Parfait, Steel Cut Oatmeal, and a Make-Your-Own Omelet option.
There are plenty of non-alcoholic drinks and a few alcoholic beverages including the Ultimate Bloody Mary, a Bellini, a Mimosa, and Raspberry Champagne.
Our server started us out with some pastries and coffee!
We started our meal with some fruit and breakfast meats! We got fresh fruit…
…sausage and bacon…
…and the salmon bagels!!
Not a bad start!
We went back to the buffet to look closer at some of the hot breakfast items, like the Potatoes with Crumbled Impossible Meat…
…the Eggs and Egg Whites Frittata…
…and, of course, we couldn’t forget the Mickey Waffles!!
At the buffet, you can get something fun and a bit different — juice and milk in bags!
The juice was Watermelon, Pineapple, and Cantaloupe Agua Frescas, and the milk was Cinnamon Milk.
Character dining has officially returned to Disneyland! We’ll be doing a full review of our experience here soon, so stay tuned for that! We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest Disney news and reopenings.
