Disney’s Very Merriest After Hours is a brand new holiday event at Disney World that will be held in Magic Kingdom from November 8th to December 21st!

2020 holiday decorations at Magic Kingdom
Much like the After Hours Boo Bash event that replaced Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, this event serves as a replacement for Disney World’s typical holiday party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! So, let’s see how the pricing for Disney’s Very Merriest After Hours compares to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
Let’s start by taking a look at what the after hours event offers versus the beloved Very Merry Christmas Party. Disney Very Merriest After Hours will give guests a chance to see a parade (for the first time since Disney World reopened), watch holiday fireworks, ride attractions with shorter wait times, have a dance party, and eat free snacks. A lot of this is similar to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but there are a few things that are different!

The Holiday Season at Magic Kingdom
Just like Boo Bash, the event is shorter than before. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party used to last 5 hours, but the new event only lasts 4 hours (9PM-1AM). However, guests with a ticket to the After Hours event will be able to enter the Magic Kingdom starting at 7PM!
Here’s More Details About Disney Very Merriest After Hours!
Now, let’s get into the pricing. This year, a ticket to Disney Very Merriest After Hours costs $169 to $229 depending on the date! Prices go up to $249 each for December 19th and 21st. However, if you are an Annual Passholder or Disney Vacation Club member, you can save $10 on select nights in November.
Looking back to 2019, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party cost $99 to $139 for adults and $95 to $135 for kids ages 3-9. Tickets were also sold at the gate for an additional $10. This is a much lower price point than this year’s holiday offering! We saw the same price trend with Boo Bash for Halloween this year.
The least expensive ticket for adults in 2019 for Very Merry was $99. For Very Merriest, the cheapest tickets are priced at $169. That’s a difference of $70 for the cheapest options!
In 2019, Very Merry’s most expensive ticket was $139. This year, the most expensive ticket is $249 for Very Merriest. That is an even BIGGER difference of $110!!! Also note that Very Merry’s MOST expensive ticket in 2019 is cheaper than the cheapest ticket for Very Merriest this year.

Overall, it looks like there is a pretty big price gap between the two holiday events. Although there are a lot of the same offerings, the new and more expensive event (Disney Very Merriest After Hours) gives guests LESS time in the park. Any thoughts on ticket sale limits for this event? Did I read correctly that “regular” after hour events are capped at 5000? Thx!
$70 price difference on the cheapest offerings not $60.
Totally DISGUSTED at Disney and their prices.
Thanks, JC.
Chris, my understanding is that Disney does not release official numbers for these parties, so we have not seen anything specific for these After Hours events. If we do, we’ll report.
I know thre tickets are non refundable but if WDW were to close again due to COVID 19, would Disney refund since the event was cancelef?
When I think back to a time when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party back when it first launched. What a bargain it was …. So happy I attended back in the 1990’s
Too expensive, not going! WDW is soaking visitors trying to make up for last year losses. Maybe they should take some of the cash they made from Disney+ services when we were all stuck at home on lockdown paying to watch their new service, and cut us all a break!
Disney way over priced this event for people on limited income and people with families. Not fair Disney. Packages, park tickets restaurants have all raised there prices, your making it impossible for families to enjoy the Disney experience. Especially for Christmas for everyone. I’m coming in November but won’t be able to afford these tickets for the Christmas evening.
We have been to both of these events. They were fun, but extremely crowded, the lines were very long. It seemed like there were people there who did not pay for tickets but just never left the park at the special closing time. It was expensive then which was 4 years ago, but now it is way overpriced for what you are getting for the evening. We will definitely not be going this year for sure.
We arrive Christmas Eve. Is there something special already happening on Christmas Day? I don’t understand why they wouldn’t have after hours events on the actual holiday or new year’s eve. I feel like I made a bad decision waiting for the school to go on break.
Liz, I think we’ll have to wait and see if Disney does anything special in Magic Kingdom on the actual holiday. It wouldn’t surprise me to find something special ends up being announced, but we just don’t know yet.
Hi, Rodney. I believe that’s what they did for events in 2020, so I would say yes. Of course, Disney could do something completely different if this was an issue in 2021, so I can’t say for sure.
Website says that the event can be “modified or canceled” without liability. That seems to mean they can cancel and not refund if they choose! It seems risky to me to put that much money into jeopardy right now. Will wait to much closer to the actual date to see what happens with any changes due to COVID.
