Disney World Annual Passes are now on sale again!

Disney recently announced a brand new Annual Pass system with four new Annual Pass options. The new program comes with some changes including bonus Park Pass Reservations for current Annual Passholders, a new calendar system, and more. One of the biggest changes is the fact that PhotoPass is no longer included with any of the Annual Pass options, and if you’re thinking of adding it to your pass, there is an important detail you need to know about!
PhotoPass is now an add-on for Disney World Annual Passes at $99 per pass. If guests are purchasing Annual Passes for their entire family, it might make sense for a lot of families to buy this add-on for ONE person’s Annual Pass. However, we made an interesting discovery for any groups trying to do that.
Disney World Annual Pass
When going to purchase several Annual Passes, we noticed that Disney automatically adds PhotoPass for EACH Annual Pass you are buying. For example, we looked to purchase two Annual Passes at once and if we wanted the PhotoPass add-on, we would have to pay for it for BOTH passes ($198 total). We also tested this with kids Annual Passes and it added the PhotoPass automatically for those passes too.
The Disney World website did NOT give us the option to pick and choose which Annual Pass had the PhotoPass add-on — it was automatically added when we checked the PhotoPass box.

This can REALLY add up if you are buying Annual Passes for your entire family, and for groups with young kids, it may not make sense for them to have their own PhotoPass add-on. Also, you can have up to 25 people on your Family and Friends list in My Disney Experience that can take photos and they will show up on your account.
Disney PhotoPass Studio
To avoid adding PhotoPass to every pass, buy the Annual Passes one at a time instead of grabbing them all in one transaction. You should also be able to add a single Annual Pass with the PhotoPass option to your cart, and then return to the Annual Pass ticket page and select however many other Annual Passes you want to buy (without PhotoPass) and add those to your cart. That should allow for a single transaction when it comes to the ultimate purchase, but also allow you to add the PhotoPass option to just 1 ticket.
Another way to avoid this situation is to add PhotoPass at a later time. We confirmed with a Cast Member that you can buy an Annual Pass WITHOUT PhotoPass, and add it on later. Cast Members also confirmed that this is the same for the Water Parks and Sports add-on.

You can also add a single Annual Pass WITH Photo Pass to your cart, then return to the Annual Pass ticket page and purchase the remaining passes without Photo Pass. This allows for a single transaction while only purchasing a Photo Pass for one Annual Pass
I purchased an 2 annual passes through ticket service yesterday and was able to add photo pass on to one of the passes only.

Also, be aware you cannot use gift cards to buy your annual pass online or on the phone. We confirmed this very early yesterday morning, when the passes first went on sale and the call center openers at 7 am. The cast member on the phone told us we had to buy the passes in person to use more than one method of payment. Your annual pass will be billed monthly to the credit or debit card you use to make the down payment if you buy online. We had planned to pay the down payment for one family member’s pass with our chase credit card Disney Rewards Redemtpion Card , but we were told we could not do that unless it was in person.
I just bought two annual passes, one with the photopass on it. You just have to choose each one separately, but they can go on the same transaction. You add one to the cart with and then go back shopping and add the others without. Works fine.
I know that we need to go to guest services to retrieve the purchased annual passes. Can you do that at Disney Springs or only at the parks?
So if I understand this right, my wife and I only need to buy one photopass for the two of us, then add the other person to the account on Mydisney experience app. Then we both will have our photos taken even if we single rider a ride, and are not together?
Jeffrey, you’re understanding that correctly, yes.
Ricci, at Disney Springs you can go to the Disney Ticket Center. It’s in the Town Center section of Disney Springs near the Disney Springs Welcome Center and D-Luxe Burger. The current operating times are 10AM to 10PM.
When you go to renew your pass, how do keep the discounted renewal price and purchase them separately. after your purchase one will it allow you to go back and purchase the others individually or would they now be at the NEW RATE, not the RENEWAL rate?
KraftyKouponers, that’s a good question. In this case, I’d probably recommend calling to renew, so you can be sure you won’t miss out on the renewal price.
This is an older post so I hope you see this. I am wondering if we add on the water park half way through our term if they will prorate the cost? Any idea? thanks!
