In a little over a week, Disney World’s HUGE 50th anniversary celebration will begin, and there’s a LOT to get excited about.
We’ve got TWO (count ’em, two!) new nighttime shows coming to the parks (Harmonious at EPCOT and Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom), we’ve got a brand new character cavalcade to look forward to, we’ve already got 50th anniversary popcorn boxes, and we’ve seen a lot of the 50 gold character statues all over the resort. But Disney is adding more subtle 50th Anniversary details, too. And there’s one we bet you’ve missed!
One classic ride is getting in on the 50th Anniversary celebration in a special way. We’ve seen some painting done over at “it’s a small world“, but one part of the new paint design was done in a VERY purposeful manner.
You’ll have to look very carefully on the clock tower to find a nod to the 50th anniversary. Do you see it? While all of the numbers on the right side of the tower are in a shimmery, gold color, 2 are slightly different.
See it yet? It’s the “5” and the “0”! These two numbers have specifically been covered in gold leaf to make them a bit more unique, and turn them into a wonderfully subtle reference to Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
But that’s not the only detail that has been embellished as part of the celebration. Disney has been refurbishing spots all over the resort in preparation for the anniversary. You’ll find more embellishments on rooftops, sidewalks, and more. So, be sure to look around the next time you visit the parks. We’ve already seen a beautiful transformation take place at Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel, beautiful gold details added to Princess Fairytale Hall, and more refurbishments being done at various places throughout the resort.
Disney recently released a video showing Cast Members putting some of the final details in place for the celebration. Check it out below!
