One of the joys of living near Disney World are those quick one-night trips! Booking a short stay at a hotel and hitting up the parks for a day or two is a fun time for folks who live nearby.

However, those quick one-off trips are about to get a lot harder for most of the remainder of the year.
For hotel stays from October 9th to (at LEAST!) December 4th, you will NOT be able to book a one-night stay at Disney World. That means if you’re heading to Disney World at any time between those dates, you’ll have to book at least two nights from here on out on these dates.

Right now, if you try to book a one-night stay at a Disney World hotel through the majority of the rest of the year, it will come up empty for you. Change it to two night and you’ll find lots of options most nights. We spoke with Cast Members and got confirmation that this is an official policy already in effect.
UPDATE: A Cast Member confirmed with us that this limit only applies to cash reservations and DVC members staying on points can book one-night stays now through December (and beyond).

The Cast Member we spoke with said this has been in effect since October 9th and that it will run until at LEAST December 4th, but with the possibility of extending longer. 
Seeing as how the weeks following that are some of the busiest of the year for Disney World, it’s entirely possible it will go longer, but will keep you posted as we learn more. We’re always keeping up with the latest Disney news, so stay tuned here for more!

Ah, so this is why I couldn’t get a WDW room for the night when my Southwest flight was cancelled. I was going to go back and spend more money at Disney but no availability would show up for one night.
This is our go too for a night stay before heading to the Cruise Ships! Eeck! Glad we don’t have a current reservation for DCL, as I’m all out of points! 🙁
Another day, another Bob Chapek travesty. Every new move under his leadership is a disaster on steroids! I usually book 1 night for the first night, at a lower price point. Our flights aways arrive in very late, so there is no benefit to paying for an expensive room for the few hours we are in it. Then we switch to the more expensive long stay room the second day. I guess the local off-world hotels will be getting a lot more patronage, and Universal will be getting a lot more business generally. ( Does Chapek have stock in Universal?) Another “genius” move by good ol’ Bob.
That’s not entirely factual just booked 1 night stays you have to look they are limiting which rooms you can stay at you have to search room availability had to book king which is always more expensive but was able to in Nov and December
I am a Florida AP holder. This has been my experience since July. No one night stays at any resort level available, but change the request to two or more nights and availibility magically appears. Glad that Disney has finally confirmed it as official policy.
Disappointing. I know things are busy with the 50th Anniversary, but I hope this does not become permanent policy.
We decided to extend our stay by one night so we could do the Very Merriest and could not stay in our suite, so we have one single night. I have paid for it, so hopefully it will not disappear.
This sounds like great news for Universal and other offsite hotels.
Oh, Dear. I can imagine another round of complaints from our Disney fans. Maybe they will open up last minute with a phone call?
Since the DDP went away, Shades of Green has been our go-to for one and two night stays. The (previously deluxe style) rooms are $165/night and right now they are begging Serivcemembers, Veterans, and their families to come stay with them. We’re doing a one-night stay next weekend.
Cast member was incorrect. This applies to everyone, as I have tried several times online and on the phone to book 1 nights stays in the coming months and have a credit card on file which I always use to pay for my room.
Oh well, there are plenty of hotels to choose from, including the ones at Universal!
I have a one night stay booked and paid for at the beginning of November 2021 and January 2022, so I’m not sure this is true. Both were booked in the last week.
I have a 1 night stay on November 27th, but I made the reservation back in May. It is followed by a 7 night stay at another D. Hotel. The one night stay is discounted, which I couldn’t believe, since it is Thanksgiving weekend!
I’m curious about 1 night stays that were booked/paid for before this went to effect. Are they cancelled out of the system?
I understand but what if you look up availability and there is some accommodation that is only open for one night? Does that mean you can’t get it even though it is open? Call me crazy but I would think Disney would like to fill all rooms as all times.
Disney is the new Russia, honestly its just no good anymore. The day is coming where you will not be allowed to go the parks unless your staying on property and for more than one night. The CEO is out of control and needs to be ousted yesterday, all of this is getting too restricted and so bad.
