The free Disney Genie service will offer a digital assistant for planning your day in the park, while the paid Disney Genie+ will allow guests to use the Lightning Lanes for certain attractions. And as part of the offerings of Genie+, guests who purchase the new system will be able to use new PhotoPass lenses in the parks!
These new lenses will be available starting tomorrow, October 19th, through the My Disney Experience app. The full list of lenses will only be available to those who purchase Genie+ for the day, although a select sampling of them will be complimentary in the Snapchat app.
Disney shared a glimpse at some of the lenses coming soon, and by far our favorite option is the augmented reality filter that allows you to take a photo with the birthday cake Cinderella Castle from Magic Kingdom’s 25th Anniversary!
These new lenses will be available all around the resort, whether you’re on transportation, in your hotel room, or in a park. However, some of them will be exclusive to certain areas of the park, like the new Remy lens. Also, some of these options will be available up to 45 days after you visit and use the Genie+ service, including the new “Lady and the Tramp” lens — you can re-create the iconic movie spaghetti scene with your pet at home!
It’s important to note that while the Disney PhotoPass Lenses are available in the My Disney Experience app with the purchase of Genie+, that purchase will not include the ability to download PhotoPass photos from in-park photographers and on-ride pictures from Disney World. That must be purchased separately with the Memory Maker add-on. (Although Genie+ in Disneyland Resort WILL include PhotoPass pictures.)
Stay tuned to DFB for all the Disney Genie+ news and updates tomorrow as we test out the new system in the parks!
