Did you know that some offerings still haven’t returned to Disney World after the 2020 park closures? We’ve welcomed back several restaurants and experiences, so what’s still left?
This month, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the Harmony Barber Shop will be returning to Magic Kingdom, and more character meet and greets are coming back as well. Today, we got a FIRST LOOK at a reopening lounge in Disney World — but this spot looks a little bit different than it did before. Maybe it has something to do with a villainous TAKEOVER?Â
The Top of the World Lounge is an exclusive lounge for Disney Vacation Club members, and it’s located at the top of Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s been closed for a long time, and apparently during that closure some Disney VILLAINS used it as a hide-out! We’re heading inside now to get a sneak peek at the changes. Come along with us to check it out!
Atmosphere
Top of the World Lounge — A Villains Lair is officially opening on July 11th. We attended a media preview to see what’s different about this spot now. The story behind the changes is that Disney Villains have been hanging out here while it’s been closed, and although they’ve gone now, they left their mark with new decor.

Apparently, this wasn’t actually how the villains left the space when they vacated. We were told that the furniture was broken, drapes were in tatters, and the lounge was generally “destroyed” by the sinister occupants. Disney cleaned up the place and brought in new furniture but still left some of the villains’ changes.

To the right of the bar, we found some cloaks hanging around a screen that showed scenes of our favorite baddies in Disney movies.
And the villains appear to have left behind some belongings in their rush to vacate the space in time for its reopening. Cruella De Vil and Dr. Facilier might be missing some accessories!
So the story goes — when the Top of the World Lounge was closed, the Disney Villains took residence! Seems they may have left behind some things (even their recipes 👀) #mediaevent #hosted pic.twitter.com/KFHrgz3AA6

The changes mainly included the updated furniture, new artwork, and villains’ accessories, and Halloween music was playing while we were there to really bring the spooky vibes.
Menu
The villains did more than update the decorations, though. You can now find some sinister eats and drinks on the menu! Disney said that the villains’ recipes and concoctions were so delicious that they decided to keep them on the menu even now that the baddies are gone.
There are choices of Fiendish Fare (appetizers) available, such as The Empress Charcuterie Board, Lair-Made Hummus, Twisted Tales Pretzel, and the Cosmic (Plant) Power Flatbread. And don’t forget about the Seven-Lair Cake for dessert!
The cocktails got an evil update as well. Some new additions are the Cursed Pirate, The Other Side, Mirror Mirror Moonshine, and Tower Trap. A couple of zero-proof (non-alcoholic) cocktails include the Queen’s Garden and The Lion’s Uncle.
You can also find Wicked Wines (sparkling, white, and red wines) and Bubbling Brews (beer, hard ciders, and hard seltzers).
Make sure to check out our full review of all the eats at this spot! The Villains Lair is going to be open daily from 6PM to midnight, although times are subject to change. Seats are on a first-come, first-served basis, open to Disney Vacation Club Members with access to Membership Extras and who are staying in Disney World Resort hotels. Guests staying on Members’ reservations are also eligible.

Wonder if it will be crowded or it be standing room only at times?
