Since the parks reopened, many Disney World fans have been waiting for the return of the dining plan.
Disney announced a while back that the dining plan would come back in the future, but didn’t reveal a date or timeline. We’re still waiting for its grand return, but in the meantime, it looks like Disney World will be featuring a DIFFERENT dining offer?! Let’s get into the details.
A new dining offer is now available for guests taking trips this summer. If you book a minimum 5-night stay at a Disney World Resort with at least 4-days of tickets, you could be eligible to get a Dining Promo Card. Remember, even if you are staying fewer nights, this offer may still apply to you — just ask! You may remember, Disney did something similar to this for select guests last year. We have also seen Quick Service Dining Cards in the past as well. But this seems to be an expanded offer.
The offer, which is now available, only applies to trips booked for arrival dates between July 1st, 2023, and September 14th, 2023. Other dates may apply, but the dining card amount may not be as high. Once you check in, each reservation will receive one promo card via email to be spent at select restaurants around Disney World.
The card’s value will be determined based on your vacation arrival date, number of nights, and which hotel you choose. Basically, it works similarly to a gift card…but only at restaurants.
The offer is good for up to a $750 Dining Promo Card. Here are the values based on travel dates and resorts:
- At value resorts — $35 per night if your arrival date falls from June 25th-June 30th or July 11th-31st, and $50 per night if your arrival date falls from July 1st-10th or August 1st-September 14th
- At moderate resorts — $75 per night if your arrival date falls from June 25th-June 30th or July 11th-31st, and $100 per night if your arrival date falls from July 1st-10th or August 1st-September 14th
- At deluxe resorts — $125 per night if your arrival date falls from June 25th-June 30th or July 11th-31st, and $150 per night if your arrival date falls from July 1st-10th or August 1st-September 14th
There is only one card per reservation, so if you have a large group staying in multiple hotel rooms, it would be better to book separately. Current reservations that fit the dates can be modified with the new offer, but keep in mind that some prices recently increased, so the modification may cost you more than it cost when you originally booked.
The Dining Promo Card will be emailed to the address of the lead guest on the reservation after check-in. The email will include a barcode that can be scanned at restaurants, and the card may be added to Google or Apple Wallets on your phone. However, this card cannot be attached to a MagicBand, MagicBand+, or MagicMobile. (So you won’t be able to use those devices to scan like you could with the Disney Dining Plan.)
If you’re Mobile Ordering, you may enter the number of the gift card into the My Disney Experience app to pay for your order. Whatever balance is remaining on your dining card will expire on September 30th, 2023.
If you’re interested in booking this offer, it is LIVE on the Disney World website now.

It feels kind-of sketchy to me. $35 is hardly enough to pay for a Table Service. This just seems like Disney wanting guests to stay in a Deluxe Resort.
I have booked to stay at a moderate resort on 28th July 2023 for 9 nights- does this mean I will be given the $100 gift card for food or will I not receive this because I have already booked it?
So it’s not really free if your package cost goes up. 🙁
Would this offer be available to modify on existing reservations? What time do offers go live on the site? Thanks!
I’d like to say we had a dining card last year as part of our package. It certainly helped with food. But it didn’t cover most of it. So it’s good in a way. But not great in others. Also the check in staff have no clue when it will come to you and when you are jet lagged and get off a plane and want help with checking in. Just pack your patient pants.
Don’t like it one bit. Just more the reason to spend my Vacation Dollars Elsewhere
So if I have a party of 3 staying at a value resort would that be $35-$50 per day per person or just per day? It sounds like it would only be per day split among the party. Also, would the amount carryover like the old dining plan credits did and expire at the end of your stay?
Hi. Do we know yet if this offer will be available for DVC stays? Thanks.
AJ: Does this apply to DVC reservations too in the pertinent dates range? Thanks!
Bought the guide in November to help with planning our February 2023 trip to WDW. It was really great but link no longer works so sadly we are without our planning tool. don’t aNt yo purchase another one.
This isn’t the greatest but at this point I will take what I can get. Now I can budget for my trip with more clarity. At this point something is better than nothing
I did not buy a package from Disney- I did the hotel/plane with my travel agent and the tickets from Disney. It doesn’t say anything about having to be a package from Disney only, so I hope I can still get this cool perk!
Will dvc members be entitled to this offer
Ridiculous! Just keep making everything soooo complicated. Just reinstate the DINING PLAN as it was before !!! Come on Mr Iger get on the ball !!!
Will this apply to DVC or Annual Passholders? I’m guessing not, but it sure would be nice to get some kind of perk.
How much ? Is charge for this added to my bill?
Weird that they’re trying that out in the summer peak period and not right now when it’ll be slowing down?
I already do this with gift cards and since I buy them from Target and use my Target Red Debit Card to buy them I save 5%. Plus, I can eat the three w’s which are whatever, wherever, whenever I want. And, yet again, as seems to have become Disney’s standard operating procedure, Disney is playing favorites and giving preferential treatment to those “guests” that spend the most.
Can this dining card be used at any and all restaurants in Disney World? Or will the card mandate which restaurants you can use it at depending on what type of hotel you’re staying at such as economy, moderate, or deluxe?
This new Disney card sounds interesting… but what about the rest of us that book from year to year and spend thousands of dollars but not booked between those dates ?!?!?!? Shame on Disney !!!!! Our reservations were made and paid for last year !!!! WE deserve the same benefits !!!! I have been going to Disney 35 plus years ……our trip is booked for the week of Oct.8th….7 days and 6 nights ….again SHAME on Disney for not extending the same benefits to the rest of us !!!!! My vacation is locked in 1 year in advance……Jill Prutzman LPN
And what about dvc members? Let me guess does not include us…we get it again
Hi Arlene! There are a few exceptions in which you will not be allowed to use the Dining Promo Card, which consist of:
Merchandise locations and candy kitchens
Dining locations at Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel and Walt Disney World Swan Reserve Hotel
Dining locations at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort
Dining locations at Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels
Dining locations at Walt Disney World Official Hotels at Bonnet Creek
Dining locations at Walt Disney World Gateway Hotels
With that being said, however, the website says “participating locations” and to check with the restaurant before using the card. I hope that helps!
Hi Shar! The Dining Promo Card doesn’t add anything to your bill. It’s just a promotional card that has money on it that you can spend at participating dining locations.
Hi Carol! If you could send an email to [email protected] we can send a new link to you that works. 🙂
Hi Diane! At this time, DVC members are not eligible for the dining promo card because it only applies to guests booking a room and ticket package and paying with cash/credit/debit, etc.
Hi Jim! At this time, DVC members are not eligible for the dining promo card because it only applies to guests booking a room and ticket package and paying with cash/credit/debit, etc.
Hi Simone! At this time, DVC members are not eligible for the dining promo card because it only applies to guests booking a room and ticket package and paying with cash/credit/debit, etc.
Hi Josh! It’s per room so you would only get one for your whole party per day. The credits will carry over and not expire until September 30, 2023.
Hi Rachel! You will need to call Disney directly to see if they can modify your existing reservations. You can reach them at (407) 934-7639.
Hi Laureece! You can call Disney and see if they can modify your existing reservation. That number is (407) 934-7639.
Thanks for the clarification Gigi!
: )
I was bummed to see that the dining card promo doesn’t extend to our Beach Club Villas stay in early August and neither does the new resort stay discount. I’m crossing my fingers hoping a late summer resort discount will come out and include the BC Villas. If not, I’m not canceling our trip, but it would be a nice perk. At the end of the day, we understand Disney is a for-profit business and every decision they make is strategic and profit-based. I think so many people forget that and take it all so personal. I never expect a discount or a perk; I pay a premium price for a premium service that only Disney can deliver.
So I was able to add this to my existing booking. I get the max amount because it is a deluxe and at the end of the summer bookings. It did add $94 dollars to my booking but the customer service said the card would be worth $1,000. More than this article say. I don’t know which is right but anywho, Yay! First time I ever got any freebie from Disney!!
Does this have limited availability ? I tried adding on to an existing trip from July29th through August 6th and they said the hotel was booked for the promotion during that time. I haven’t read anything saying it was limited availability.
Disney’s guests are not going to be thrilled about a dining promo exclusively for only certain booking dates. A lot of people want the dining plan back. This doesn’t even help me Im going in May 🤷 so I like the 25% promo better it’s more of a deal than a dining promo card that you have to use at certain restaurants if I’m saving money I’d prefer it be on the cost of the resort. Plus I’m dining completely out of pocket and not prepaying…. For a person with a family of five I’d have to say saving on the resort means more
Will I be eligible for this deal? I’ve already booked our hotel, flights and tickets via Disney itself – but there’s no indication anywhere about a Dining promo card. We’re staying at the Wilderness Lodge, arriving Sept 13th for 14 nights. Thanks for any info!
Hi Kathleen! Unfortunately this promo was only available through March 27th, 2023, but we will be sure to post any other deals we come across!
Hi, we’re staying at Coronado for 14 nights from 15th August so it seems that we should be eligible, right? But we weren’t told anything about the dining promo card on booking. Will we just receive this via email when we check in?
Hi Jamie! You had to have booked during the promotional window to receive the dining promo card. Do you remember when you booked? People who had previously booked those dates had to call to get the promo during the open window, but if you booked during that time you should have it.
