The Walt Disney Company might be celebrating its 100th Anniversary, but the company continues to change and grow. The BIG changes started when former Disney CEO Bob Iger returned to the company in that same role. Iger immediately started restructuring the company, as well as began canceling big projects, and job cuts.
However, Iger referred to streaming as his top priority, meaning we’re about to see big changes made to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. One of those changes involves removing some shows from Disney+.
According to Bloomberg, Disney will soon be removing shows from Disney+ to cut some of its streaming costs. These programs will be originals created for the streaming platform, many of which have been canceled. Those who worked on the projects will be notified soon, with shows getting yanked from the streamer as early as next week. This move is to remove additional costs, such as residual fees paid to those who made the shows.
Shows that have not been renewed for new seasons on Disney+ include The Mysterious Benedict Society, Big Shot, and National Treasure.
Per Deadline, the shows that are being removed from Disney+ are Willow, Big Shot, Turner & Hooch, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Just Beyond, Diary of a Future President, The Mysterious Benedict Society and The World According to Jeff Goldblum, and Hulu’s Y: The Last Man, Dollface, The Hot Zone, Maggie, Pistol and Little Demon.
Disney previously said it planned on cutting a whopping $3 billion in non-sports content. At the time, Iger said, “We will take a very hard look at the cost of everything we make across television and film.” The removal of content on Disney+ is likely part of the company’s strategy to increase the profitability of streaming, which it hopes to do by the end of its next fiscal year in September 2024.
In the meantime, there are plenty of highly-anticipated NEW shows coming to Disney+, including Secret Invasion, the second season of Loki, and the Ahsoka series. We’ll keep an eye out for more news about Disney+ and keep you updated, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!

I’m sad about Diary of a

NATIONAL TREASURE WAS JUST GETTING REAL GOOD!! BENEDICT SOCIETY I’M SURE HAD A GREAT FOLLOWING. LEAVE IT TO DISNEY TO SCREW UP A ONE CAR FUNERAL. P.S. THE PARKS AIN’T PACKED. STAR WARS HOTEL IS CLOSING. EXPECT MORE CUTS!!
The cancellation of Willow was a huge disappointment, as is its removal from Disney+. While I didn’t agree with every creative decision they made on the show, it was a really great piece of fantasy overall, with interesting characters and plot! Plus a really good follow up to the original film! And since they (very frustratingly) left it on a cliffhanger, I was really hoping for those two more seasons that they were teasing for at the end. Those of us who are high fantasy fans are pretty starved for good content right now.
Hi , I have a question? park reservations are no longer needed.I booked my vacation a few months ago. For September of this year. come September, will we still have to have park reservations For each individual park or can we pick and choose which one we want to go to.
I loved Big Shot! I was looking forward to the next season. Please consider bringing it back. It was a great show for the family!
Hi John! The new park reservation rule doesn’t go into effect until January 9, 2024 so you will still need park reservations this September.
I really loved the Willow series. Will there be any way to purchase it to be able to see in the future? I wanted to be able to go back and rewatch it. That feels unfair to not make it available in any way
I love National Treasure. I hope it gets renewed.
