The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is currently happening RIGHT NOW in EPCOT and will run through November 23rd, 2024.
We were at the festival on the VERY FIRST DAY, trying all the new foods and checking out all the food booths, as well as looking at new merchandise and checking out some entertainment like the Eat to the Beat concert series. Well, one food booth just added a NEW snack for a limited time for a special Chinese celebration. So, we obviously had to check it out so we could get you a review!
China is currently celebrating the Moon Festival, a harvest festival that is celebrated at a time when it is believed that the moon is at its brightest and biggest size. During the festival, you’ll see a variety of lanterns (which Rapunzel would LOVE) being carried and displayed. A special Moon Festival snack is the mooncake, a special pastry. So now, you can get the Snowy Mooncake at the China booth at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival to celebrate the Moon Festival.
The Snowy Mooncake is a Butterfly Pea Flower-infused Snow Skin Mooncake with Creamy Custard filling for $8.25. We’ll be honest, though, we felt indifferent about this snack. The outer coating reminds us of mochi with that kinda chewy texture. But this does mean that the cake holds its form very well.
Inside, you’ll find something that tastes a lot like a cake pop — the texture isn’t like a cake pop, but the flavor is like a mochi-covered cake pop. There’s a vanilla flavor to it except when you get a bite of the gel at the bottom of the snack. So let’s just say that flavor-wise this is nothing special.
Also, it’s very small, and at $8.75, we don’t think it’s a good value. It’s pretty, and it’s only available for a limited time, sure, but there’s so much more to eat at the festival that’s much better. If you do decide you want to try it, it’s available through September 21st.
There’s a new treat at the China booth in EPCOT today!
