2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year at Disney World — and it’s getting even more exciting!
New residents are moving into the parks and no, we don’t mean Mike and Sulley at the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Hollywood Studios. Mae, an Asian small-clawed otter mom, recently welcomed a litter of pups at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and we couldn’t be more excited.
If Mae and her babies have zero fans, it means we’re dead.
Dr. Mark Penning, head of all things animals at Disney World, shared some about these furry friends:
“As the smallest otter species, these pups are already showing their unique charm. As you can see from these photos, mom is taking care of the otter pups backstage when they are not napping. The dad, Kevin, is also actively involved in the process of taking care of these new additions.”
“Over the next few months, they will reach key milestones, like opening their eyes, trying solid foods, and learning to swim. The animal care team is closely watching their progress as they grow. Look for these pint-sized pups on Discovery Island soon!”
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest adorable updates from Animal Kingdom — along with the not-so-adorable updates from the rest of Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss any important announcements and news!

My wife and I are AKL DVC owners since 2007. We have stayed at our home property a handful of times and have never waisted a point by staying at other properties over the year. We have an AKL 3 bedroom villa reserved for this July 11 and are bringing our adult children and 3 grandkids for thei 1st visits. We are so excited.
Awww, they’re so cute
