Many anxious Disney fanatics have been eagerly awaiting the activation of Disney+, Disney’s new subscription streaming service that just debuted today!
But some of the initial Disney+ streaming-induced euphoria has already worn off for some folks in large part due to some technical difficulties that have been plaguing the service during its first few fledging hours.
While Disney+ enables its subscribers unlimited access to pretty much every single Disney and Pixar movie along with Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic- related content, (which sounds like a dream come true for just about every Disney lover we know!) the launch of Disney+ has been fraught with some hiccups.
Many first time Disney+ users (including us!) were receiving error messages today stating the service was “unable to connect” and prompted us to try to connect again at a later time. Other users reported having difficulty finding the app in the Apple App Store while some users who preordered the service in other countries received the error message “Disney+ is only available in certain regions”.
A spokesperson for Disney+ has made the following statement, “The consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our highest expectations… While we are pleased by this incredible response, we are aware of the current user issues and are working to swiftly resolve them. We appreciate your patience.”
While these problems are a bit frustrating we’re not mad at Disney+. Having this new streaming service in our lives is EPIC — especially because we can’t wait to see the Disney+ exclusive series like The Mandalorian!
If you haven’t already signed up for Disney+, you can subscribe for $6.99 per month or purchase a yearly subscription for $69.99. Disney+ is also allowing folks to try out the service for free for seven days! That’s plenty of time to check out the new live-action Lady and the Tramp — and lots of other stuff, too!
There are also special Disney+ offers for Verizon customers as well as Disney Cast Members (though that’s been a story all in itself).

I too encountered the connection error earlier yesterday but I just clicked on one of the other tabs up at the top (Originals) on my PC to get around it and I was still able to watch The Lady and the Tramp re-make :). Once I was done watching it and went back to the home screen it was fine.
A slight problem that is annoying to me is that there is no “continue watching” tab. Also, if you go click on the show you were watching, it does t show you which episode you were on.
Opening day at Disneyland was shaky as well. But, look how well that turned out!!!!
