Review: The NEW Cookie Cupcake at Sprinkles in Disney World and Disneyland

Heeeeeeyyyyy! As all of you know, I just returned to from a fantastic visit to Disneyland for the opening of the 2017 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival! But I also had a blast checking into all of my favorite spots.

I made a point to get to one place especially — the new Sprinkles located in the Downtown Disney District in Disneyland Resort!

You guys — I make NO secret about my deep and abiding love for Sprinkles. Well, my love for cupcakes in general goes deep. After all, Disney Cupcakes are some of my favorite things ever.

And there’s something well, magical, frankly, about having Disney and Sprinkles located in the same place.

And now, I can enjoy that Disney Sprinkles fun whether I’m in Walt Disney World or Disneyland!

As I entered the store, a glance at the menu showed me that many of my favorites were available on the day of my visit. This outlet is much smaller than the Disney Springs store, however.  [Read more…]

News: Amorette’s Cake Decorating Experience in Disney Springs Now Available For Booking

If you’ve paid a visit to Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, then you’ve likely spent more than a few minutes taking in all the gorgeous dome cakes on display.

And if you’ve ever wondered, “How do they DO that?…” well, now you have the chance to find out for yourself! The Amorette’s Cake Decorating Experience is now available for booking on Friday mornings from March 31 through May 5, 2017.

Guests will learn the culinary technique used to decorate Amorette’s signature Mickey Dome Cake. This 90-minute class starts in Amorette’s Show Kitchen at 9:00 am (before the bakery opens to the public). The instructor for the class will share stories, tips, and describe the process of decorating an Amorette’s Dome Cake from initial design to the finished product.

Specifically, participants will learn how to pour the glacage and coat the ears, tail, belt, and buttons on Mickey with edible paint.

Disney Food Challenge: The Disney World French Fry Crawl!

Y’all!!! It’s time for some FRONCH FROES!!!!!!

2017-DFB-Guide-to-WDW-Dining-Cover_3D

(For those of you new to DFB, that’s “french fries” in AJ-speak. ;-D)

We’ve got TONS of food crawls in our DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining, and in our latest edition, we just had to develop a brand new one– the French Fry Crawl!

It’s just one of the many great features that make the 2017 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining, 2nd Edition, our best book yet. With more than 650 pages of color photos, tips, reviews, and extra features, you HAVE TO HAVE IT for your next Disney trip! (I’m not biased or anything. For realz.)

But now, back to the subject at hand. Call ‘em Fries, Chips, Poutine, whatever — there’s pretty much nothing about fronch froes we don’t love. And Disney hasn’t failed us with their yummy spins on this classic side.

So head out with us as we complete this most delicious challenge. We’ll be all over the place for this one, so plan accordingly! The French Fry Crawl will likely take you an entire trip to complete. Unless, you know, you’re like us — and want to eat fries for every meal. Then it might only take you a day and a half. ;-)

Hungry? Good! Let’s go!

Stop #1: Smothered Fries, Beaches and Cream

Our first stop is Beaches and Cream. Find this little Soda Shop in the Disney Beach Club Resort.

Beaches and Cream is one of my favorite stops for about a million reasons. There’s a cool, beachy retro feel to the place, and it’s known for its killer sundaes. While my favorite is the No Way Jose, the most iconic treats here are the Kitchen Sinks.

But we’re stopping here today for a plate — or two — of their Loaded Fries! Currently, there are three versions: Sock Hop Fries, Chili-Cheese Fries, and Cheese and Bacon Fries.

Sock Hop Fries are covered in a savory Brown Gravy and topped with melty Shredded Cheddar. Think of them as Poutine’s American cousin.

But the Bacon and Cheese Fries. Omigosh. Cheese Sauce (!!!!), Bacon, Peppercorn Ranch, and Red Onions elevate this one to amazing. [Read more…]

Good! Because we already know a little bit about the backstory of this fast-casual restaurant, which was formerly the Mess Hall for the RDA (Resources Development Administration) base in the Valley of Mo’ara. (So many apostrophes.) But once we are all welcomed in, the space will be serving its transformed function as a museum-like dining facility for visitors exploring Pandora, owned by the ACE (Alpha Centauri Experience) tour company.
