If you’re planning a trip to Orlando for some sun and fun, you might be looking for some navigational tips.
Two of the biggest draws that bring folks from all over the world to Orlando are the theme parks, specifically Disney World and Universal Orlando. But how easy is it to visit them?
Distance
Traveling between Universal Orlando and the Disney World Resort isn’t too terribly complicated or too terribly far. In fact, the two major vacation destinations are just 9 miles apart and only about 15 minutes by car.
How Can You Get There?
No official transportation services are running between Universal Studios and Disney World. If you are staying at a Disney World resort and you did not drive your own vehicle or rent one, you will need to use private transportation to get to Universal. Â
Taxi/Rideshare
If you’re planning to use a taxi, there are multiple taxi services available in Orlando. It is important to book with a reputable firm, like Mears. Depending on your provider, a one-way journey should cost around $45.
You can also find plenty of options in rideshare options like Uber or Lyft, and usually, those rides run about 30% cheaper than a taxi. Just be aware of surge charges and traveling at peak times.
Drive/Rent a Car
If you’re renting a car, those prices will vary based on which company you use, what type of car you rent, and how long you’ll be using it. To drive to Universal, you just need to take the I-4 East to exit 75A. Once you’ve exited, just follow the signs to Universal Orlando’s main parking garage!
Keep in mind that you’ll have to pay for parking, so be prepared for those fees. Our friends at AllEars.net have a Universal parking breakdown here.

Bus/Public Transportation
There are buses available, however, we don’t recommend this as a method of transport between the parks. There is no direct bus route, which means you will have to change at least once, wherever you are staying. Although it is likely to be the cheapest travel option, the journey could take an hour and a half, compared to 15 minutes in your own vehicle or in a taxi or rideshare – vacation time that could be much better spent at the parks.
