Character Dining is an important part of the Disney experience when traveling with children… or children at heart 🙂 . There are thirteen different character meal venues at Walt Disney World proper, plus a few others in satellite locations.

PLEASE NOTE: As Walt Disney World continues its phased reopening, the Character Dining experience has been modified, and is only available at select locations. Currently, modified character dining experiences featuring an updated style of character appearances are available at:

• Animal Kingdom’s Tusker House Restaurant
• EPCOT’s Garden Grill
• Hollywood Studios’ Hollywood & Vine
• Riviera Resort’s breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace
  
• Contemporary Resort’s breakfast and dinner at Chef Mickey’s
• Four Seasons Resort Orlando breakfast on Saturday mornings at Ravello (Please Note: if you are not a guest at Four Seasons, you need to arrange personal transportation to get to your reservation.)

Though they are NOT presenting character meals, guests dining at Be Our Guest Restaurant and Cinderella’s Royal Table may experience a brief character appearance at some point during their meal, as the Beast may walk through Be Our Guest and Cinderella may wave at guests in Cinderella’s Royal Table. The Crystal Palace is also reopen; however, Disney characters are not present upon reopening.

What’s a Character Meal?

For those new to Disney travel, “character meals” are dining experiences in which Disney characters meet and greet guests in the restaurant. They generally travel from table to table, stopping to interact with each party for a hug, photo, autograph, or possibly a conversation. Your group gets guaranteed quality time with characters in air-conditioned comfort (rather than standing in endless autograph-and-picture lines), while simultaneously enjoying waffles, pasta, carved meats, or in some cases, adult beverages. It’s a win for junior as well as mom and dad.

Special Event Character Dining

Unique Character Dining experiences have occasionally been offered in conjunction with special events or times of year at Disney World. While these meals are not available year-round (and are not guaranteed to return), the success of these special meals leads us to believe that similar opportunities are not unlikely for the future.

Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast at Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant featuring Star Wars Villains was offered in 2014 and 2015 in conjunction with Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Hollywood and Vine featuring Jedi Mickey (and other beloved Disney characters in their best Star Wars garb, like Darth Goofy and Stormtrooper Donald) was also offered in 2014 and 2015 in conjunction with Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
