If you find yourself at Disney’s Grand Floridian, Gasparilla Island Grill is a great option for counter-service comfort food.
We spotted the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich on the menu a few weeks back, and we’re glad we got the opportunity to try and review it for you!
The BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich is made with BBQ pulled pork, spicy Pimento cheese, crispy onion straws, and house-made bread butter pickles. It’s served on a Brioche bun with house-made chips.
We enjoyed the flavors of this sandwich, and the pickles were our favorite part! They weren’t overwhelmingly sour, but instead, they were nice, light, and bright! After taking a few bites, we wished there would have been a few more onion straws to counteract the VAST amount of pork. It just really needed a bit more crunch! So, maybe try yours out with a few of the house-made chips on top.
The pimento cheese was good…but not great. It adds a bit of heat to the sandwich but didn’t blow us away in terms of flavor. The pork itself was yummy! We really enjoyed the texture of the meat and the sweet and tangy flavors of the BBQ sauce.
The bread…oh the bread. It was a real downfall for us! 🙁 It really didn’t do its job in terms of keeping the sandwich together. Instead it kind of just fell apart which made for a VERY messy sandwich.
Overall, it was good! We think it’s a great option for someone who is looking to mix it up a bit. But, it’s not a must-get meal by any means… You can find it for $13.99 at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
