Booking a Table for a Crowd
Our DFB Reader asks…
I am trying to find a restaurant for a dinner group of 50 people, all adults, within the Epcot Resort Area. Any suggestions?
This is a great question! After all, Walt Disney World is a terrific destination for your gathering of friends or family. It’s the perfect place to host a reunion, pre-wedding party, or graduation celebration!
You can work with Disney catered events to schedule a dinner for a large group within Epcot or a nearby resort, or any location within Disney’s property. They should have some pretty great ideas for you, since they’re experienced with handling this type of arrangement.
In addition to Disney hotels, the Downtown Disney Area hotels are happy to work with you. Just contact the specific hotel that you’re interested in directly, and they will be happy to assist you with making arrangements.
In making your plans, don’t forget the Downtown Disney restaurants as well. Many of them also accommodate large parties and private functions. We’ve attended events at both Portobello Restaurant and Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and both have been top notch. In that case, contact the restaurant directly for details on how to arrange the evening.
Your other option is to book via Group Dining. Just call 407-WDW-DINE and ask to be transferred. It’s also possible to book a large group for dining via 407-WDW-DINE if space is available. I have had large group meals at many restaurants within Walt Disney World — though none quite as large as this. 😉
Best of luck, and please drop us a line and let us know how it turns out!

We had our rehearsal dinner for 30 people at Portobello. The food was fantastic, and the event coordinator was wonderful to work with. I highly recommend it!

A few weeks ago we had a surprise 70th birthday with 40 people for my Aunt at Il Mulino at Disney’s Swan. In trying to plan the event I must say Disney Dining tried to be helpful but really weren’t. They would give me the places that “could” host large groups but of every place I called they said Friday’s were a busy night and they could not promise we would be seated together. That was a bummer since this was a surprise. Il Mulino was the only place that once we asked were overjoyed to have us. They gave us a private area that was blocked off and were wonderful helping us plan everything down to the last minute. I would definitely suggest for any other large group gatherings!

Because I belong to the DVC, we do a family vacation about every three years – there’s 36 of us now. Since it was a vacation year, I decided I wanted to celebrate my 70th birthday at Disney World and called Old key West several months in advance. We did eat a bit earlier than I would have liked but they gave us a private room, set up perfectly and accommodated our group ranging from my twin two year old great-grandkids to me. Made the day very memorable.
