If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom in the next several months (a cast member says NINE months in all!), plan for some significant changes to the parking lot, TTC (Ticket and Transportation Center), and Tram system. The usual tram pick up and drop off location at the Transportation and Ticket center is closed for refurbishment, and that makes for some longer walks. Let’s take a look.
Currently, the tram drop off and pick up locations are at the edge of the Heroes and Villains lots that are closest to the TTC (namely Jafar and Aladdin).
For guests parking their car in those lots, there may not be tram pick up at all. (Note that the parking lot for disabled guests, which is likewise one of the closest to the TTC, is not serviced by the tram even under regular operations.)
Trams will still travel further into the parking lot for pick ups and drop offs, but when disembarking the tram for TTC, you will have a walk ahead of you.
That walk takes guests under this Magic Kingdom arch and on the road normally used by the trams.
Fencing is up around the former tram pick up and drop off, where work is being done to improve (we hope!) bag check and organization for those arriving at TTC.
Look for these symbols on the ground as you make your way!
And remember that on the way back to your car, the reverse will be true. You’ll walk from TTC to the start of the lots, then board a tram if you’ve parked beyond those first few lots.
Changes are taking place for Epcot’s tram system as well, as work begins on the transformation of the park’s entrance, so be watching for a DFB update on that situation soon! In the meantime, be sure to budget in a little extra time for your commute from parking to TTC and back again.

We were there during the switch over. What a surprise when we saw it! It is quite a long walk and had we known about it we would have monorailed from Epcot (where we were) as opposed to driving to TTC. It reminds me of the mess at DHS. One CM told us that it will be that way until November.
I’m staying at the Poly. Can I still use the pathway from the resort to the TTC?
Wow! Now I’m extra glad I am staying on site for our October trip! That is quite a hike!
This nine month refurbishment of the trams at Magic Kingdom may not last as long as the ones for Epcot so that means I will be checking out the new tram structure after New Year’s which will be inside the TTC and with an unveiling undercover structure. 🙂 Now for Epcot I am not sure.
