Today brings news about the upcoming space-themed restaurant coming to Epcot’s Future World!
Disney has revealed that the new table-service restaurant will open in 2019! Disney shares: “No dining experience on Earth can match what’s in store, because this new restaurant will take you into outer space for incredible dining experiences that are out of this world.”
The restaurant, which will be operated by Patina Restaurant Group, will offer a menu featuring internationally-inspired cuisine along with more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer. You’ll find it adjacent to the Mission: SPACE attraction, where we’ve been keeping an eye on construction.
Executive Chef Theo Schoenegger will helm the restaurant. Chef Schoenegger comes to the Space-Themed Restaurant from Maria & Enzo’s and Enzo’s Hideaway in Disney Springs, and before taking that position he opened the Sinatra restaurant in Las Vegas in 2005.
In November, we learned a lot of fun details about what’s to come at the restaurant thanks to a job posting by Patina Restaurant Group, which you can check out by clicking here.
So, prepare for launch sometime LATER THIS YEAR!!

This means I have a chance to go during my December trip!!! Almost fell out of my chair at work – SO EXCITED!
Question. We are AP holders with Weekdays. We are taking our granddaughter for her 13th birthday on May 30-31, doing MK and Epcot and on Saturday taking here on a Monorail trip to the resorts. Is our AP good for parking say at MK and then taking the Monorail to the different resorts. May also do Disney Springs too.
Carl, you’ll get complimentary standard parking at the theme parks with your Annual Pass, and you won’t need to show your pass to ride the Monorail or visit the resorts or go to Disney Springs. Have a wonderful trip, and happy birthday to your granddaughter!
Be careful, Taytum! 😉
Thank you for the update. Any ideas regarding proposed menu specialties or direction?
This is Awesome news!!!
Ever since I found out about this restaurant’s theme I’ve been excited to dine there.
Since I’m going in September of 2020 it looks like I’ll get my chance.
Any word if this restaurant will except the dining plan?
Hopefully it will be a one credit location.
I’ll hold my breath on this because we’ve been down this road before and it ends up delayed.
Oops! I guess I should say I won’t hold my breath! If I hold my breath until Disney actually gets things up and running, I will surely perish! ?
Do you have any idea of the focus of the menu … freeze dried ‘space food’ or international or ….
Sue, cuisine is expected to be “internationally-inspired”.
NENolan: Understood. We’ll keep updating, but please breathe freely in the meantime. 😉
Ed, we would expect DDP to be accepted. (Other Patina-operated restaurants in WDW do contract to accept DDP.) No idea on whether it would be 1- or 2-credit, but when we hear, we’ll update!
Any word on allergen friendly offerings?
Amanda, no word yet.
When new restaurants have opened in the past, how far in advance were reservations available?
Justine, we would hope 180 days, but it depends entirely on the timeline they end up establishing. When we see ADRs open on new restaurants, we post right away.
when can i begin making reservations? we are due to arrive dec. 10th
Ida, there haven’t been any updates on the Space restaurant lately. We’ll update when we see ore information!
Any updates on the opening date?
Raquel, not yet!
Any idea if this restaurant will be on the DDP?
Dawn, no word yet. We would expect so, but whether it’s considered signature (requiring two credits) or not is a question.
Hey Folks! I just read today that the Executive Chef just quit Space 2020 and heading back to Sinatra’s at the Wynn Las Vegas, where he came from. Sounds like something going on because you wouldn’t normally hear news about staff changes at a Signature Restaurant.
I’m beginning to think that this restaurant will NOT be ready for a December 2019 opening! Please keep your fans up to date as I would love to visit this place when I’m there in April.
Steven, we posted about this on Tuesday! Thanks for checking in!
