Most of us who go to Disney World know about the free buttons you can get for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, first visits, and more!
Yep — the buttons ARE free in their most basic form, and they’re a super fun way to add some more magic to your day. For example, wearing your Birthday button = a LOT of birthday wishes from Cast Members…and sometimes even a free dessert (albeit a tiny one).
Well today we’ve got a DFB tip to plus up your button that a LOT of people don’t know about! But the question is…is it worth it?
Ye Old Christmas Shoppe at Magic Kingdom is the place to give your celebration button some BLING! You can pay $3Â per word to get an artist’s touch on your celebration! This is what the extra magic looks like:
Granted, $3 is a serious investment when you consider a Carrot Cake Cookie costs just $3.99! And it’s just a little EXTRA magic on top of the free magic you can get.
A Cast Member was wearing some examples on a lanyard so we could get a better look at some ideas. There are several designs and text colors available.
So you have to ask yourself — is it worth spending a few extra dollars to plus up something you can get for free…just for some fancier writing? It could be a fun, inexpensive souvenir that has a little more panache than the original — and it might make a friend or family member feel super special. Sometimes, you just gotta say YOLO and spring for the bling.
…And sometimes you’ve gotta invest in a Carrot Cake Cookie.
Life’s full of tough choices…innit?
Stay tuned because we’ll keep you updated on everything we find in the parks!

Mr . JOHN says
To pay more money for someone to write on a free button for celebration . The Christmas store would do it $3.00 I would not but others would do so . It is a nice idea but this is for people that want something special celebration . Disney is trying to make money. The Christmas store is a great store to go and walk around to see what they have for the year you go .

We have asked for these celebration buttons for our 2 children for every vacation visit to Disney World since they were 2.5 and 3.5 years old. I wish I knew that the custom writing was available 14 years ago…$3 is a small price to pay for a small button that really speaks volumes!!! How many times we noticed, waited in line, went to a restaurant and a nice conversation would start with…Happy Birthday! or Happy Anniversary ! to us the parents, or This is my 1st, 2nd or 3rd visit! at Disney, etc…all because we chose to wear our Celebration Button…it carries a little magic with it, and when we reached the 4th to 28th visit to Disney, I used to bring my own black sharpie and write my own number or message on it. We will definitely get customized buttons on our next visit to Disney once this pandemic is over and/or travel restrictions are lifted. Too bad that staff don’t tell guests about this add on when they pick up their free buttons, as I think this could generate sales not only for custom writing but also for Christmas decorations at that certain shoppe. Thank you. Big Fans From Canada.

Can buttons be ordered, sent to our home. Then we would have before entering Disney.

If it were for something significant like an anniversary or a special birthday then yeah I’d pay for it… But to be fair I’ll actually gladly pay for a lot of stuff… Like Genie + is a steal compared to most express passes and I honestly don’t mind paying for it.
