My 13 yo son and I just went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago. We had a fantastic experience and would definately go back in 2022 … BUT at the right time of year.
We rope dropped both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland and purchased Genie + (but not ILL). In the morning, crowds were almost non-existant and we got many things done before lunch. We took it easy both afternoons, even finding time to go back to the hotel and rest our feet.
We did single rider lines for Radiator Springs, did not do WebSlingers at all and jumped on Rise of the Resistance with a 30 minute wait last in the evening. Unfortuantely ROTR broke down for the night right as we were getting on our vehicle so we were not able to finish the ride.
The last weekend of January was a fantastic time to go in terms of weather. If we come back we’d definately opt to travel at this time of year or in the fall. I suspect summer crowds will be a challenge, even with Genie +
But to answer your question, YES, people should go to Disneyland in 2022 – they’ll have a fantastic time.
