When you’re on vacation, how do you get around?
In Disney World, there are a few ways to get from place to place with free transportation around the parks, but occasionally using rideshare platforms makes the most sense. Are you not renting a car and need to get to that reservation ASAP? Sometimes a Disney bus just isn’t going to cut it. Scheduling a Lyft is a great way to get where you need to go, and now they are rolling out a new program to help select drivers and passengers feel safer.
According to the rideshare company, Lyft is rolling out Women+ Connect — “a new feature that matches women and nonbinary drivers with more women and nonbinary riders.”
With this new feature, women and nonbinary drivers have the option to request a woman or nonbinary rider when they ride with Lyft. This will function as a preference within the Lyft app and will prioritize matches with women and nonbinary riders, but it isn’t a guarantee. If there are no women or nonbinary riders nearby, drivers with this preference will be matched with men in the area.
Women and nonbinary passengers will have the option to select “Count me in,” which will increase their chances of getting matched with a woman or nonbinary driver. Drivers and riders can update this preference at any time!
Currently, Lyft has plans to roll out this feature early in select cities in the US: Chicago, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose. Keep an eye out for this feature in more cities in the future! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news.
