Out of all the Disney World advice we give to our readers, some tips change as Disney World changes.Â
However, there are some pieces of advice that are concrete, and we will NEVER stop telling people. One of those key pieces of advice is that no matter how much you think you don’t need to wear sunscreen, you DEFINITELY do. And you should also be re-applying it! Since it’s annoying to reapply goopy sunscreen lotion when you’re already sweaty, many folks prefer the stick sunscreens, spray sunscreens, or even powder sunscreens. We also love using these, but we WON’T be using them as much anymore.
We read an article from Today and y’all — it changed EVERYTHING about how we will apply sunscreen in Disney World. According to Victoria Lu, the co-founder of Chemist Confessions, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that sunscreen — no matter what type — follow the same sort of guidelines when undergoing testing.Â
All sunscreens are tested after two milligrams PER SQUARE CENTIMETER of product have been applied to the skin. Two milligrams of powder sunscreen or spray sunscreen are not the same as two milligrams of sunscreen lotion. Like, do you know how much powder sunscreen you’d have to apply to have two milligrams per square centimeter of skin? You’d look like you belong in the Haunted Mansion.
As for spray sunscreen, you’d need to be glistening and basically dripping with product for it to help.Â
If we’ve learned one thing, it’s that we’re probably going to go back to the tried and true rub-in lotion. Because we definitely have not been caking our body with 2 milligrams per square centimeter of skin with powder or spray, and we’re going to guess that you probably don’t do that either.

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner & NEVER suggest any spray sunscreen. That would go for any powder as well. I only knew of that kind in make-up. Have you ever watched anyone put spray sunscreen on? The spray goes everywhere & most times barely touches the body… Bad experience as a Mom so it’s a no go…
