Disney Cruise Line includes six currently active ships with more on the way. Their newest addition to the fleet is the Disney Treasure. This ship features bold stories as it’s teeming with stories of galaxies far, far away to adventures through the jungle. You can see bits of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel all around this ship.
A massive ship such as the Disney Treasure requires many members of the crew and great leadership to keep things sailing smoothly (pun intended). That’s why we’re excited to share another update with you!
Darren McBurney has worked for Disney Cruise Line for the past 25 years. He began his career at the very beginning of Disney Cruise Line as a merchandise host. He has since worked in many other sectors of the cruise line always working towards being part of entertainment.
Now, after 25 years and 14 different positions, Darren has been selected as the Disney Treasure Cruise Director! Cruise Directors are in charge of everything from the crew getting aboard the ship and ready for sailing to introducing nighttime entertainment. They play a very important role on the ship throughout the trip.
You may not even realize that the Cruise Director is in charge of everything in the entertainment department aboard the ship. This includes lifeguards, youth activities, port adventures, technicians, and more. There is a wide array of activities and individuals Darren will be in charge of on the Disney Treasure.
Until the Disney Treasure is complete and ready to set sail, there is a lot of preparation for Darren to accomplish. For the next few months, he will be continuing to spend time as the Cruise Director on the Disney Wish. He will also spend time researching and visiting the Meyer Werft shipyard to be prepared for the Disney Treasure programming and operations.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the leaders and making sure that our crew members, both seasoned and newbies have a smooth and meaningful onboarding process,” Darren said. “That’s one of the things in the back of my mind, always.”
We can’t wait to see all the entertainment Darren and the rest of the Disney Treasure bring to the new cruise ship. With a Haunted Mansion Parlor, a Jungle Cruise lounge, and much more, it’s going to be an exciting Disney voyage!
