Planning on going to Disney World during the last little bit of summer? It’s important to be aware of the weather!
We are in hurricane season, and storms are something that can really impact your Disney trip — from closed attractions to killing the vibe. We’re keeping an eye on the latest weather to see if it could impact your vacation, so take a look at the latest update.
A few days ago, on Sunday, August 3rd, Tropical Storm Dexter formed over the western Atlantic and has become a little bit weaker the more it has moved away from the U.S. coast, according to the National Hurricane Center. That being said, the NHC did clarify that it’s forecast to reintensify again.

It’s been measured that Dexter has a maximum sustained wind speed of 40 mph with a minimum central pressure of 1,005, according to Wesh 2. The National Hurricane Center did state that Dexter is expected to stay in the Atlantic as a tropical storm. They’re expecting it to weaken and later reintensify as a post-tropical cyclone, which would take place on Wednesday, August 6th.

Luckily, Wesh 2 stated that the system doesn’t pose a threat to Florida whatsoever. The National Hurricane Center is making sure to monitor additional areas of interest in the Atlantic.

Flooding in Disney World
On top of Dexter, the National Hurricane Center has been monitoring a tropical wave in the far eastern tropical Atlantic. There is a chance of a gradual development of the wave, and a tropical depression could form late this week as it moves west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic. The chance of formation within the next 48 hours of today is still zero percent; however, a formation chance in the next seven days is 50%.

A rainy day in Disney World
When looking at a few miles off the southeastern U.S. coast, there’s a wide area of low pressure forecast to develop in the coming days. The National Hurricane Center stated, “System development is expected by midweek as the system drifts to the northwest.” The formation chance of this within 48 hours is zero percent, and its formation chance within seven days is 30%.

Disney World on a wet day
Remember, we are currently in hurricane season over at Disney World. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th. Make sure to pack accordingly, and prepare for wet days at Disney World. Some attractions do close due to weather, so make sure to have a Plan B for any ride closures.

Make sure to have a poncho
