A major streaming service is about to end PERMANENTLY.

Streaming services have overtaken movie theaters and live television over the past decade when it comes to how we consume entertainment. However, while services like Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu charge users to access their wide range of media, some offerings like Amazon’s free streaming service, Freevee, have been game-changing. The app is about to end, but there will still be ways to watch its content FOR FREE.
As we previously reported, Amazon is shutting down freevee this August with a specific date to be announced later.

This free ad-supported streaming service is about to be consolidated into Prime Video, which is included with Amazon Prime memberships. Freevee debuted in 2019 and was originally owned by IMDb, which has been owned by Amazon since 1998.

Per Amazon, current freevee users will be able to watch shows and movies on Prime Video for free WITHOUT a subscription to Amazon Prime.

Freevee has offered original shows alongside some Prime Video content with ads for free through its app. Notably, Amazon launched ads on Prime Video last year with the option to remove ads for an additional $2.99 per month. Freevee users might not experience that much of a viewing in the short term, but we’ll continue to monitor that situation to see if it changes.
