Although we spent a LOT of our Orlando time in Disney World, we also occasionally venture out to other Orlando-area theme parks. We’re sure you’ve seen all our coverage of Universal Orlando, especially when it comes to Epic Universe (which we’re a little obsessed with right now). But we’ve also visited SeaWorld Orlando on occasion, too, to check out special offerings there.
Well, we also love going to LEGOLAND Florida, and recently, we had an opportunity to check out LEGO Ninjago Weekends, which allowed us to tap into our inner ninja potential. So let’s see what this party is all about!
LEGOLAND is celebrating 15 years of LEGO Ninjago with LEGO Ninjago Weekends, which is currently running on select dates through February 15th. If you’re visiting LEGOLAND during those dates, you’ll get to experience special activities, see special characters, enjoy special shows, and have all kinds of LEGO Ninjago fun. If you’re arriving on one of those dates, be sure to pick up the LEGO Ninjago Guide, which will give you a full rundown of everything you can see and do during your visit.
One of the fun activities you can participate in is Path of the Ninja. You’ll be training your ninja skills by attending interactive shows and themed activities. Collect a sticker at each activity that you’ve completed.
Once you have all of the stickers, end your day at the “Ceremony of the Ninja” to receive a prize! The prize is an exclusive LEGO Ninjago coin.
If you love scavenger hunts, there’s also the Name That Ninja game, where you have to find eight hidden clues, then use your knowledge of LEGO Ninjago to match each clue to the correct ninja name.
You’ll also be able to have some special LEGO Ninjago character experiences at Heartlake Hall throughout the day. The special show, Lloyd’s Elemental Challenge, puts ninjas to the test as they demonstrate various elemental powers. The show has stunts, special effects, and sweet, sweet ninja moves.
Of course, there’s also the Whip Around Dance Party, because even ninjas love to get their groove on.
Be sure to participate in the Ultimate Dragon Build, where you can grab some LEGO bricks and help build an epic dragon.
You can pick up a card and some bricks, which will tell you what colors you need for the little block you’ll make. That block gets added to the overall build. It’s sort of like the EPCOT Festival of the Arts Expression Section…but with LEGOS.
End your day at the Ceremony of the Ninja, which happens in front of LEGOLAND Coffee Co. at 5:30 PM.
Of course, you can’t have a special event without special food. Granny’s Apple Fries is serving up Matcha Arts Apple Fries, which is Granny’s Apple Fries served with matcha soft serve ice cream, topped with toasted coconut, mini mochi, and green sprinkles for $18.29. We really couldn’t taste the matcha, so it tasted more like regular vanilla ice cream. The little pieces of matcha are fun, but they don’t add much more than a gummy texture here and there. As always, the apple fries are crispy and unique.
You can also pick up the Balanced Bao Bun at Kickin’ Chicken Co., which is two steamed bao buns filled with crispy tempura chicken coated in Japanese BBQ sauce and topped with fresh cucumbers, carrots, cilantro, chopped peanuts, and spicy mayo for $10.29. We’re sad to report that the tempura chicken tasted like it was made from frozen. The Japanese BBQ sauce is strong and offers a sweet and salty touch. The spicy mayo was cool, but also spicy, and balanced well with the other ingredients. It’s kind of small, but it’s one of the more elevated things you can get in LEGOLAND Florida.
So if you’re looking for a little bit of fun over the next few weekends, head to LEGOLAND Florida and enjoy LEGO Ninjago Weekends. We’ll also keep an eye out for more special events at theme parks in Orlando, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
