We went to Machu Picchu, and we didn’t even have to leave Orlando!

Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City
Ok, maybe it wasn’t the real Machu Picchu, but we did get to experience the city in a cool and unique way! We recently got an exclusive preview of “Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City”, a virtual reality experience that was one-of-a-kind. Of course, we’re sharing it all with you.
We got the chance to do an exclusive preview of a virtual reality experience called “Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City”, and it was awesome! The experience lasts approximately 45 minutes, and you can do your tour solo or with a group of up to six people.

Let’s head to the experience!
You can customize your experience in four different ways:
- Signature Experience: English, with Terry Crews
- British narration with documentary tone
- Spanish language
- Portuguese language
Having this customization makes it diverse and enjoyable for everyone!

We can’t wait!
When placing the VR goggles on, there is a team member there to assist you, making sure the goggles fit comfortably and that you can see everything. There is a blue dot that comes on to make sure that your eyes are in focus, so it is not blurry, and everything is within the frame. Once you enter the VR, you’ll meet your tour guide, Teri, the AI robot who is voiced by Terry Crews. You also have a companion along the way named Larry the Llama — we loved him!

VR Goggles
The experience brings you back through Inca time and history. You’ll move around villages, landscapes, temples, mountain tops, and caves. This 360 VR experience is top of the line — words can’t express it, you just have to experience it for yourself. However, if you are prone to motion sickness, this may not be the best activity for you. Also, the illusion of heights can give you that butterfly feeling in your stomach as well.

The VR space
The creative team behind this experience actually went to Machu Picchu to get all the content used in the experience. They went during COVID when tourists still weren’t able to go, so there was nobody in any of the footage that they got. They use photography, videography, drone footage, and other types of technology. As of right now, this experience is only going through June, but they plan to extend it depending on how well it does.

There is also a new experience coming that brings you to space through a black hole. It may be around in July, but that’s a tentative date that has not been confirmed. At this location, they also have a glow-in-the-dark type of escape room. If you do the Machu Picchu Experience, it’s at the Florida Mall in Orlando, and it ranges from $25-$29.

We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. On rare occasions, when we are invited by a company to attend a preview as media, and when we choose to accept that invitation, we will always make you, our readers, aware of that situation. Today, we were invited to attend a media preview of the Machu Picchu Experience. Note that when we attend events as media we are 1) Not required to review that event/food on any of our channels, and 2) Not required to review that event/food favorably.
