Andy over at Eating (and Drinking) Around WDW got the inside scoop on a bunch of news coming out of the Japan pavilion in Epcot! Here are the main subjects, but be sure to head over to his site for details!
Katsura Grill and Gardens Replaces Yakitori House
The Yakitori House, now closed for refurbishment, will reemerge as Katsura Grill (menu will stay essentially the same, Andy says), and the beautiful gardens next door will be refurbished as well!
Japan Food & Wine Festival Booth Being Used as a Stand-In Counter-Service Spot
Those of us familiar with the Japan Booth will recognize the structure and sign here! It’s serving a limited menu of counter-service items while Yakitori House undergoes refurbishment — check out Andy’s site for the menu photo!
Kabuki Cafe and Other Kiosk Updates
Andy got the scoop on why the Kabuki Cafe menu changed so rapidly after it first opened. The good news is that those savory items might come back at certain times of the year depending on Epcot attendance! He’s also covered a few other details, including a third new quick-service kiosk in Japan! See the link above for details.
We’re looking forward to enjoying all that’s new at the Japan pavilion next year!

Sounds exciting, can’t wait to see what they do! We love the ‘hidden’ Japanese garden, it’s one of our favorite spots in all of Epcot. Here’s hoping though that the menu at the restaurant gets a little improvement at least? IMHO the food there has always been mediocre at best, a waste of a great spot.
Doesn’t matter if they change the name. Just glad the menu will be very much the same.
Bring back the original Kaki-Gori!
