With the addition of Starbucks to the Main Street Bakery, there’s been lots of concern over whether or not the famous homemade ice cream sandwiches would continue to be served there.
While the answer is no, you have no reason to worry! Hakuna Matata, DFB readers!
The sandwiches have ALWAYS been served over at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square, and now they’re also available at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor — right next door to the bakery!
And the best part? You’ve got all of those incredible ice cream flavors to choose from for your cookie sandwich! On this stop, we tried a new-to-us flavor…

On a hot Orlando day, ice cream definitely hits the spot. And a cool, creamy minty flavor is the perfect choice, we thought! So we went with the Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.

The ice cream cookie sandwiches are universally huge! Definitely enough to share (but we won’ t tell if you’d rather get one all your own!).
Usually, two or three scoops of ice cream are packed between freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. But don’t forget that some locations will offer specialty seasonal cookies from time to time!

As always, this treat definitely hit the spot. We’re here to assure you that your favorite Main Street Bakery treat has not flown the coop too far! These are just as good, and just as fresh, as they were before.
And the best part is that it’s available for a Disney Dining Plan snack credit!
Stop by the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor to create your own home-made ice cream sandwich! And don’t forget that you can also get these at Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as at several Disney resort hotel food courts. Currently, they are not available in Epcot while Fountain View Cafe is under refurbishment.

I find it terribly inconvenient being forced to purchase one of these sandwiches from the Ice Cream Parlor and walk all the way down to eat it at my favorite spot on East Center Street. My heart longs for the days when the Main Street Bakery was a bakery and not a coffee shop. Oh, my heart is broken! The pain is too great! I must end my suffering by throwing myself into the Seven Seas Lagoon. My spirit shall join those in the Haunted Mansion and I shall at last find peace…

James, just so you know that you are not alone, I too, still cry for my 20,000 Leagues. *sniff,sniff* I love the new Fantasyland, but the 20,000 Leagues and M&M’s little homes will always be in my heart.
I had an ice cream sandwich at the plaza with cookies & cream ice cream 🙂 The choc-chip cookie contrasted nicely with the oreo-type cookie in the ice cream. The cashier even told me I had made a good choice, that combo was her favourite too!
While I applaud the positive thinking, I do not think suggesting that the Sleepy Hollow ice cream sandwich as an equivalent is completely fair – I think it is made with soft ice cream, whereas the Main Street Bakery one is made with scooped ice cream. (But maybe my info on Sleepy Hollow is out of date).
At any rate, you can get the sandwich at the Plaza and you can get funnel cake with strawberries and whipped cream at the Hollow, which means all is right in the World.
Where can you buy these in the animal kingdom??
My favourite is the macadamia nut cookies with maple pecan ice cream at All Stars Music. Don’t know if you can get this combination anywhere else. If you can could somebody let me know please. We are booked for next year at Caribbean Beach. A stop at All Stars Music is a must every year just for this treat!!
