UPDATE: Great news! Disney has opened online Advance Dining Reservations for Rebel Hangar for WEEKDAYS in addition to Star Wars Weekends, from May 15 through June 14th!Star Wars Weekends
begin at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 15th and WE. CAN’T. WAIT!
Especially now, since there’s a whole new dining hangout for all you Rebels out there coming to Echo Lake: the Rebel Hangar: A Star Wars Lounge Experience!
Here’s what we know: according to Disney, the Rebel Hangar was “once a known hangout of Rebel pilots, aliens, and smugglers.” Themeing of the atmosphere will be a major part of the experience, with abandoned spacecraft and remnants of vehicles framing the entry. But themeing of the FOOD seems to be just as much of a draw!
Among the items on the menu: some Fruit and Cheese Sabers…
And Ensalada Naboo!
The Slider Sampler featuring “The Sith” barbecue-braised brisket and “The Jedi” barbecued pulled chicken features items for your inner Jedi or your Dark Side.
A lovely Trio of Thermal Detonators (aka spicy pork wings), anyone 😉 ?
Check out the Pilot’s Pomme Frites with everyone’s favorite Wookie!
Chips and SITH!!! Can you even handle it?!?
I’m already loving The Dark Fried Chicken
and Darth Vader Waffles!
And, of course, Lightsaber Bites (corn-battered bratswurst)!
Specialty drinks will include the Rebel Red (Grey Goose vodka, Chambord, sour mix and a splash of grenadine) and the Tatooine Sunset (Stoli vanilla, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, pineapple juice with grenadine) among several others!
And for dessert? How about a little (no pun intended 🙂 ), Mini Yoda Key Lime Cake?
Character-themed Cupcakes will make their return again this year! In addition to Darth Vader and Yoda, JABBA THE HUTT is joining the lineup!
If you can’t hangout in the Hangar, the Jabba and Hutt and Yoda cupcakes will be available at the Trolley Car Cafe, Starring Rolls, Backlot Express, and the new Tusken Fridge Raiders snack stop at Darth’s Mall. The Darth Vader Cupcakes will be available at ALL Hollywood Studios Quick Service locations.
Advance Dining Reservations are online NOW starting May 15th and ending June 14th from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. Interested guests may also call 407-WDW-DINE. There is no prepayment required — just the standard credit card guarantee. The menu is a la carte, with items ranging from $5.49 to $16.99.
This is bound to fill up fast, so May the Force Be With You!

These are ideas are great for Star Wars themed birthday parties.

Maybe both during the same visit…
Beth says
Do we know where this will be held?
Angela Moody says
Tried booking for the weekend Frank Oz is there, all booked up. Any idea if they will take walk ups on a wait list?
Angela Decker says
Beth, I just booked ours yesterday and it says it says Backlot Express lounge.
Mary Albright says
FYI…this is already sold out for May 15-17 and May 22. So bummed that this went so fast…I’m crossing my fingers for a cancellation or that I can score a walkup.

I called at 10am EST this morning and there were no available times AT ALL! I live in Orlando so was open to take any time, the kind lady tried for 10 minutes and tried for every date and time but no luck. I so wanted to go!!!!! Didn’t manage to get in for either of the other Star Wars meals either. Our first Star Wars weekends living in Orlando isn’t going to be as good as I’d hoped!
Deanna says
I love the two sliders, especially the dark side! It’s so clever.
Angela Decker says
Mary,
Keep trying because you never know. I booked on the 5th for May 23 and at first it kept saying it was sold out. Then it said it could search for tables (it was overloaded, I think). I just kept hitting, Find a Table, and finally it came up with options. From what I hear, they have been having some ups and downs with this where it will say the reservations for this particular things are sold out or can’t be searched and then the system will “right itself” and tables will be available. So, you never know.

As both a huge Disney fan and a huge Star Wars fan, I am loving this marriage between the two. Especially the stuff they’re cooking up in the parks. That Sith slider looks awesome. I’m guessing the bun is made with squid ink, which is used to dye a lot of foods black in Japan, but that could be an allergy problem so maybe it’s just food coloring.
Lindsay says
Is the Rebel Lounge ONLY open for the Star Wars weekends? We have a trip planned for October 2015 and the rebel lounge and its food sounds amazing…don’t want to miss out on it the rest of the year!! Any info would be appreciated, thank you! 🙂
Brooke says
Lindsay — Right now, it’s only scheduled to be opened during Star Wars Weekends. But you never know…fingers crossed! 🙂
Mariessa says
This looks like it could’ve been a big draw. Too bad it’s only temporary. I would’ve loved to do this.
Jennifer says
I just got my Reservation for June 1. There are lots of times now during the week. Better hurry before they are all gone!! I could not get any on the weekends I am glad they decided to go all week long.
Cris says
Will there be character appearances at the Rebel Hangar?
Brooke says
Jennifer — Thanks for the update!!
Becca says
Gotta say, that Jabba the Hut cupcake is looking pretty stellar 🙂
Denise says
This was by far the worst food experience at Disney World hands down. We ordered the waffles and chicken and the corn dogs. The food tastes like it was cooked in 4 week old grease. The service was awful. We had to ask 4 different people six times for ketchup. 2 adults 3 kids was $120.00 and no alcohol was ordered.
Denise says
Save your money!! The food was terrible and the service even worse!
Family of 5 no alcohol was over $140.00.
Heath Hawkins says
Is there a kids menu?
