Ever since Epcot’s Kringla Bakeri og Kafe reopened in August 2018, we’ve been keeping an eye on the pastry case to see what old favorites returned and what new treats await. Just a few days ago, we told you that Troll Horns (finally!) made a comeback! And just yesterday we let you know about the Troll Kreme Spiked Slush that’s perfect for fortifying the spirit before jumping in line for Frozen Ever After.
And now we’re bringing you a sweet treat that’s reindeer approved (because, after all, reindeer are better than people). It’s Sven’s Apple Cheesecake, and it’s lovely in its simplicity.
This is a dome of cheesecake filled with spiced apples, coated in pourable fondant, and placed atop a shortbread round.
We love that vibrant green color — and we can see why Sven likes it, too. The little stem of chocolate makes this one look delightfully similar to every reindeer’s favorite fruit.
The exterior is relatively smooth, and the fondant covering is basically tasteless. That’s okay — because the interior is packed with flavor!
Rich cheesecake encases spicy apples, and that cheesecake is rich in both creamy texture and flavor. So much so that the apples play (a happy) second fiddle. But we’re not complaining because it all works!
Sven obviously has good taste, because his Apple Cheesecake totally rocks! Try this the next time you’re visiting Epcot’s Norway!

My late husband and I only ate at Le Cellier once, so long ago it was before we adopted our now 26 YO son. At that time, it was cafeteria service.
I NEVER miss stopping at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe when visiting Epcot. Not even during the Food & Wine Festival. absolutely LOVE the lefse. When Akershuhs was a smorgasbord restaurant, I used to eat several pieces with my dinner. They went so well with the gravy on the venison they had. I have not been to Akershus since the buffet became a character restaurant. I don’t mind the characters, it’s just that I hear such varying accounts of what type of service it is now and it is far too expensive to go there just to find out. Back to Kringla Bakeri og Kafe, my late husband and I used get 2 of the Kafe’s sandwiches and split them. One was an open-faced chilled scrambled egg and smoked salmon on rye and it was outstanding. It is not the sandwich they serve now. I think the other was turkey with cheese and apple or something like that and was also delicious. I don’t remember EVER seeing the meatballs you mentioned. I know because I DEFINITELY would have had that.!
Lorraine, it sounds like you have lots of great memories of eating all the good stuff with your husband. Thanks for sharing!
Dearest DFB,
I am huge fan of the Sven’s Apple cheesecake when I ate it at my first Epcot food festival. Fortunately I am on a fix disability income at cannot afford to go to Disney as much as I would like to enjoy the awesome treat. I am trying to find out who I can write to that would share me the recipe to try to make it at home or someone I copy buy it from or a class I could take to learn from the experts that make it. I am most desperate as I have been searching for help on this for years.
Help?!
Thanks so much
