Disney’s NEW Skyliner Transportation System!
We’ve finally got an official OPENING DATE for the Disney Skyliner gondolas in Disney World!
The ski-lift-esque transportation system will connect Epcot and Hollywood Studios to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Since all of these resorts (except Riviera, which isn’t open, yet) previously only had bus service around the parks, this is SUPER exciting. And we can ALL start riding in our very own gondolas on September 29th, 2019!!
The skyliner gondolas all sport bright, fun colors, which are VERY striking to see sailing over Walt Disney World. And some even bring a little character to the skies!

So disappointed with this date !!! Booked a September trip hoping to avoid the Star Wars crowds but instead got a half complete land – galaxies edge shopping center – and no skyliner !! ? I was looking forward to the skyliner more than Star Wars lol
Although, there seems to be a bunch more discounts & promotions for September so maybe just maybe we will get lucky and it won’t be as crowded !!
What happened to August 28th?
Chris, when Disney released info about the gondola designs back in April, they said cast members would begin riding in August, but this is the first official word on the Skyliner being open for guests.
Katie, that’s a good question. We’ll update if we hear about one!
Any idea if you have to have a park pass to ride them?

I’m staying at Beach Club in September and was dreading the skyliner crowds at the International Gateway. Thankfully I go home on the 26th. Phew!
Heather, no info on this — but we would not expect so. We expect they’ll be open for anyone who needs to ride from place to place, and you’ll still need to go through security and tap-stiles before you can enter the Parks you arrive at, anyway.
Will you need to go through a security checkpoint to ride on the gondola’s too?
