You better check your packing list, friends, because airport security is checking out your merch from a galaxy far, far away.

You may remember us asking TSA — the Transportation Security Administration — in May about whether or not Galaxy’s Edge-built light sabers would be allowed on flights (they are). Well we’ve got some news about something that suddenly — and surprisingly — ISN’T allowed to fly.
The collectible Galaxy’s Edge Thermal Detonator Coke Bottles have been banned from checked and carry-on bags according to a tweet from TSA that states “Replica or inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.”

The specially created bottles look like small thermal detonator grenades, ready for use by rebel spies and bounty hunters alike.
Despite the Star Wars Aurebesh language, imitation of Coke product logos, and the use of the color schemes from the sodas to differ from realistic grenades, TSA is worried taking these through security could create concern that they are actual weapons.

So, although Disney and Coca-Cola patented the design of these bottles (and they look super cool tbh), you’ll have to leave the souvenirs back in Batuu if you need to catch a flight.
Interestingly, DFB team members have been able to fly their coke bottles home from Batuu previously, so we’re not sure if this is not being fully enforced or if it’s a new rule from TSA.
UPDATED INFO! According to Orlando Sentinel, “TSA is reviewing its policies over whether passengers who visit Disney’s Star Wars-themed land can bring home their thermal detonator-shaped soda cans in their luggage.” “When contacted Wednesday, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, which handles security at airports, would not definitely say whether the soda cans are banned from carry-on or checked bags.”

Actually, I just flew to Boston with two in my carry-on luggage last week. But I have had things in my briefcase for years, then suddenly and without a rules change, a TSA agent decided to take it. they are very, very inconsistent from airport to airport and day to day. So, proceed with caution.
Wonder if you can ship them home now? Will they package them up like a snow globe? It might be cost prohibitive, but there ARE some people who will go the any lengths and I’m married to one.
We flew home to UK with the 3 different types on Saturday without any issue. They were packed in my hold baggage and were empty but TSA hadn’t even gone through any of our cases.

This is too bad! Just last month I brought 2 of these back home from DL- one empty and one unopened, in my checked suitcase. No issues. They make great low-cost gifts for friends back home(compared to everything else in SWGE)
What if you pack them empty and without the lid on (leave it loose or seperate) I wonder?
Surely without the lid they are just a round plastic thing.

I wonder if you just took the lid off and packed them separately if that may help? Just an idea!
I think I’d only buy one if I could take it home, so I hope this might work.
I read that they did indeed reverse their decision and are now definitely allowing them in luggage. Hopefully this means all airports.
