It’s never quiet on the planet Batuu for long… Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened to Walt Disney World guests in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on August 29, 2019. As it also was in Disneyland, the new land opened in phases with Phase 1 delivering the debut of the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction.
Phase 2 brought the opening of the highly-anticipated (and unbelievably popular) attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. And today brings another milestone for the land, as Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run debuts FastPass+ to Walt Disney World guests for the first time!
Until today, the only access options for guests to take control of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy were by entering the Standby Queue or making use of the line designated for Single Riders only.
But in January, guests were able to begin making a FastPass+ selection via MyDisneyExperience for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run for dates starting February 19, 2020 — TODAY!
As a reminder, FastPass+ is a service which allows guests to reserve attraction arrival times in advance and bypass the Standby Queue which saves a TON of time waiting in line.
Just tap your MagicBand or park admission ticket on the MagicBand touchpoint during your alloted time.
And, next thing you know, you’re strolling past ALL the folks in the Standby queue…
… until it’s time to take your assignment from Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka himself!
You’ll also get to enjoy those moments of stepping into the Millennium Falcon for the first time after receiving your assigned Flight Crew role of Engineer, Gunner, or Pilot.
A few things to note! Though you will get to see the (completely amazing) Hondo Ohnaka audio-animatronic, you will – of course — miss some of the fun atmosphere and story features that guests in the Standby Queue get to see, such as the garage which provides the maintenance setting at Ohnaka Transport Solutions.
Not to mention a pretty cool view overlooking the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.
You WILL get to see the Millennium Falcon itself, though, as it is in full glorious view to all guests in the land.
Guests may also be interested to know that the Single Rider queue is still available, if you are flying solo or don’t mind splitting up your party when riding the attraction.
NEW FastPass+ Tiers in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A reminder: the addition of both Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run AND Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (opening March 4, 2020) to FastPass+ has brought some changes to the FastPass+ Tiers.
Guests can still select one attraction from Tier One, and TWO selections in Tier Two (to make their 3 total selections), and these new additions put Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land in Tier One, so you’ll have to choose between the three. (Of course, Standby will still be available for all three.)
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Disneyland
And one more for our Disneyland pals! Though it is not yet available, FastPass and Disney MaxPass will offer Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run soon, so stay tuned!
And with that, we’re signing off once more from Batuu! May the Force be with you (especially when it comes to getting the FastPass selections you want for your next trip)!
