The State of California has issued its theme park reopening guidelines, pushing a potential reopening for Disneyland into the fourth tier of reopening. Orange County currently remains in the second tier.

With the release of the new guidelines, an outpouring of response has come from the community in and around Anaheim. The Anaheim Mayor took to Twitter immediately after the announcement to issue a statement, and now Disneyland’s President has done the same.

Disneyland President Ken Potrock released a statement regarding these new guidelines. He stated, Disney has proved that they can open responsibly and then goes on to say that “Nevertheless, the State of California continues to ignore this fact, instead mandating arbitrary guidelines that it knows are unworkable and that hold [theme parks] to a standard vastly different from other reopened businesses and state-operated facilities.”

The statement warns that the guidelines will “keep us shuttered for the foreseeable future, forcing thousands more people out of work, leading to the inevitable closure of small family-owned businesses, and irreparably devastating the Anaheim/Southern California community.”
