To say we’ve been missing the Disney Cruise Line would be an understatement. But alas, it looks like we’re gonna have to keep waiting a while longer… .
With all Disney cruises cancelled through the end of the year, and many other cruise lines in the same boat, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just released new guidelines highlighting the risks of cruise ships.
Previously, the CDC had classified cruise travel as a Level 3 risk, BUT they just added a new higher level to better illustrate the present risks. Cruise travel is now officially categorized as Level 4, altering their former 3-Level system to further organize different destinations and travel methods.
Some key points from the CDC include recommendations for all people to avoid cruise ship travel entirely, due to the increased risks of person-to-person spread on board. Level 4 represents a very high risk for COVID-19.
For anyone who does decide to go on a cruise, they should get tested three to five days after the trip, and quarantine for a week — even if you test negative. While cruise travel isn’t completely prohibited, the CDC is clearly communicating the high risk levels.
So it looks like we’re gonna have to remain wistful for Disney cruises for a little while longer! But hey, we can always daydream about Castaway Cay in 2022!
