Monorail Fans, You've Been Warned: Disney World is About to Make You Empty Your Wallets

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a lot of reasons to celebrate right now.

The hotel is celebrating its own 50th Anniversary, since it opened on October 1st, 1971 along with Disney World. Lately the hotel has also finished up some big projects, like new guest rooms, an updated lobby, and the brand new Steakhouse 71 restaurant. Now we’ve spotted even MORE reasons to head to the Contemporary, since there is a bunch of new merchandise themed after the resort!

We spotted the new items at Bayview Gifts, located inside of the Contemporary. The merchandise generally reflects the colorful and somewhat retro theming that we saw in the Contemporary’s lobby!

A Look at the Updated Lobby

First up, we found a Contemporary Resort Pin, which was outlined in the shape of the resort and had the Monorail across the middle.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse are on the pin as well, looking up at the Monorail in their ’70s-inspired outfits. Hanging from the bottom is a little outline of the resort and a “50th” logo.

We also spotted some Contemporary mugs, which have colorful squares, outlines of the Resort…

But the cutest detail of these mugs is that the handle is a Monorail!

We also saw a t-shirt with Mickey and the Monorail on the front.

More funky designs show that the Contemporary is truly embracing its ’70s roots.

But, you might want to grab the classic bowling-style collared shirt instead, which is giving us major ’70s dad vibes.

The shirt is light blue with a darker collar, and there are designs inspired by the Contemporary on the front. You can get this fantastic shirt for $85.

If you’re a collector (or just a big Contemporary fan), you can also get a print of the resort. The print has silhouettes of the resort, Cinderella Castle, a sailboat, and the Monorail, as well as silhouettes of Mickey and Minnie on a boat in the background.

And finally, there’s a Contemporary Resort MagicBand as well!
