Earlier this month, Disney announced that a new table-service restaurant would be coming to Disney’s BoardWalk — The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers!
This restaurant is expected to open in 2023, and today, Disney shared a little more about the creator of the restaurant, Gwendolyn Rogers.
In her spotlight on Disney Parks Blog in celebration of Women’s History Month, Gwendolyn shared that she didn’t always want to be a baker, but when her family moved to Indiana when she was in her mid-40s, she viewed it as an opportunity to start over.
She began baking from her own kitchen, and continued to practice for the next eight years. She said, “Some of the best advice I have ever been given is to really take the time on your idea – work at it and see if people like what you’re doing.”
She finally was able to create her own retail space out of an old home in Indianapolis, and from there, it took off and people loved it as a place to celebrate their events and special occasions. She was soon able to open a second location in Carmel, Indiana. And now, The Cake Bake Shop is coming to Disney World. Gwendolyn shared, “To think that now I get to bring this fun and happiness to Walt Disney World Resort – it’s such an unbelievable honor. I’ve been a Disney fan my whole life.”
Disney hasn’t announced an official opening date for this restaurant, so make sure to follow DFB for all the latest Disney for more!

Apparently Boardwalk Bakery will also bite the dust. That will leave plenty of room for new venues.
