Disney World Resort hotels have been getting quite the makeover recently!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort rooms were rethemed to Pixar’s The Incredibles, Disney’s Polynesian Resort upgraded their rooms to Moana (and we can’t forget to mention their current villa expansion that’s underway), and Disney’s Grand Floridian recently opened their new Disney Vacation Club villas. Seriously — these hotels are getting some TLC. And it looks like they’re not alone, as another Disney World Resort hotel is about to get rethemed too!
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is about to receive a major makeover! Disney announced that some of the rooms at the hotel will receive some well-deserved updates and a new theme.
Some of the rooms in the Trinidad area of the hotel will be receiving this makeover. The new rooms are expected to have subtle nods to “characters from under the sea,” and they’re expected to accommodate more guests and have updated features.
Disney previously shared that the pirate-themed rooms at Caribbean Beach would be rethemed — and it looks like now we might have an idea about what exactly that retheme might be!
With Disney’s “under the sea” hint, we could be looking at rooms inspired by The Little Mermaid, but there’s also a whole lot of underwater theming happening in Finding Nemo as well — so who knows! Both films are currently represented at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. We’ll be looking out for more details and updates from Disney — so keep checking back here for more.
The refurbishment will begin on October 3rd, with the expectation to open back up to guests in 2023. We’re excited to learn more about this makeover! In the meantime, check out an update on the changes happening at the Polynesian. Or take a look at the new rooms at the Grand Floridian.

I’m so sad. The private rooms are so awesome and gave more fans a chance to have a cool room. AoA already has these genres covered. Besides where elelsw can you sleep on a pirate ship?!

Didn’t they just refurbish the resort not too long ago??

I would really appreciate if there was some updates on the DVC villas that are getting a refurb. Boulder Ridge is need of an overhaul. I understand that traditional hotels need to be updated to match the cost. However, dues are still being paid on the DVC villas and therefore should get attention too.

I immediately thought the same thing as Barry. This resort went through a huge refurb not so many years ago,

Don’t forget they also could use the movie Atlantis for underwater themes…

Disney company continuing to UN-Disney all fun or traditional elements. Refurbishment appears to mean “vanilla, vanilla, vanilla”! I like vanilla but sometimes I like a different flavor. Refurbishments just seem ho-hum compared to what they replaced; the Polynesian and Grand Floridian rooms have nothing special that you can’t find outside WDW. So sad, I loved sleeping in my pirate’s ship!

I have not stayed at all of the hotels. Although I adore the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds in a cabin! I think it’s because I was single and with the girls. I had booked a trip to stay at the All Star Music because I don’t spend much time in my room. I received a phone call from a WDW reservation representative asking me if I would consider an upgrade. I was offered to stay at The Coronado Springs Hotel. I had to think for a moment, but, I made that decision by myself without asking my then, partner. I asked the woman to send me the new itinerary. I was so happy that I picked up the phone that day because, I was running very late. That hotel was gorgeous! The motif was lovely. I was more than happy with that hotel. I have stayed at the Polynesian, The Contemporary and spent 3 nights at The Grand Floridian for a business seminar. There was such a relaxing atmosphere at The Coronado Springs Resort. Still, my favorite memories are still with my girlfriends at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds in the cabins. Especially # 2222!
