Supply Issues Impacting Some Mickey Ears in Disney World

Disney has released SO many Minnie ears already, but if you want to score some that no one else will have, we have a secret!

EARS for Days!

Did you know that you can get CUSTOM ear designs at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom?! It’s true! The fantastic Cast Members at this spot can add custom doodles to ears to really make them special to you. Celebrate a special accomplishment, holiday, etc. with a design no one else will have. But getting the best version of these custom ears might be a little tougher.

Some of the best ears for customization are those solid back Mickey ears. They provide ample space for Cast Members to put custom doodles, while other ears may not have enough space or might not be the right fabric color/texture to allow them to make any designs.

Other ears may be able to be customized though — be sure to ask the Cast Members at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe for their thoughts on the ears you want to be customized.

How fun are these ears?!?!

One of our very observant DFB reporters shared that they haven’t seen the plain Mickey ear headbands in as many places as they used to.

Even within Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom, we noticed that they had the customizable Mickey hats available, but the plain black ear headbands were not for sale there.

We spoke to a Cast Member who indicated that there does appear to be a shortage of the plain black ear headbands. Specifically over at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, they’ve actually been out of the ear headbands for about 2 weeks! The Cast Member indicated that those ears had been coming in pretty regularly, but they really haven’t received any in more recent shipments.

The good news? It seems that there ARE still some available in the parks (since guests have been coming into Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe with them), but you might have to do a bit of digging to find them. The Cast Member we spoke to wasn’t sure if these ears would be returning in future shipments.

Lights and spiderwebs

Don’t want to leave it to chance? If you want to grab a plain, black Mickey headband to get customized during your next trip and not worry about the in-park shortage, you could order one online ahead of your vacation and bring it with you!
