Get ready to sing the national anthem for Genovia and whip out those princess tiaras, a NEW Princess Diaries film is reportedly in the works at Disney!

We’ve seen Disney revisit a bunch of its films in the past, with live-action remakes, live-action specials, and even Disney+ shows based on classic films. We’ve even shared a full list of ALL the remakes, reboots, and sequel movies in the works at Disney. But soon it’ll be time to add another to that list!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is reportedly working on a NEW Princess Diaries film! The script for the film is being written by Aadrita Mukerji, who some might recognize from her work on Quantum Leap and Supergirl.

According to some sources, the movie is intended to be a continuation of the existing story, rather than any kind of reboot.

Anne Hathaway does not yet have a deal to return but she has previously indicated her support for a third installment in the film series. ET Online previously reported that when asked about another Princess Diaries movie, Hathaway said “I would more than entertain it, I’m pulling for it.”

As The Hollywood Reporter puts it, “the hope is she would return should the potential new film move forward beyond the script stage.”

This new installment in the Princess Diaries movies is set to be produced by Debra Martin Chase, who also produced the first two Princess Diaries movies. Melissa Stack is executive producing. Some may recognize Stack from her work on the 2020 Disney+ movie Godmothered.

Not many details have been announced yet, but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates. Grab those mattresses friends, it might be time for a princess slumber party soon!
