The 2023 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is officially here!
Part of the runDisney series of races, from January 4th to the 7th, 2023 runners and their families will descend on the parks to take part and enjoy a nice Disney vacay.
If you’re planning an upcoming vacation during a marathon weekend (or just happen to be visiting this weekend) you might be interested in how busy the parks will be. We took a walk around and the crowds are a little unexpected!
When we first arrived at Animal Kingdom this morning, the crowds were actually less than usual.
However, by 10AM, we started seeing guests start to fill the park. Maybe the rainy weather or the need for a nap after a long race was holding them back!
The rain definitely brought people indoors. Check out how hopping Creature Comforts was!
The line for Kilimanjaro Safari went all the way back to Tusker House.
Animal Kingdom wasn’t the only park with crowds though! Over in EPCOT, guests were braving the weather to head into the World Showcase.
Here is a look at the area by Joy of Tea!
We’re only on the second day of the marathon weekend, so stay tuned to our site for more updates on crowds and traffic!

Marathon week has never been this crowded in years past. Parks way to crowded.

Epcot was RIDICULOUS on Marathon day, 1/8/23! It was SO crowded and so many areas were blocked off for runners that navigating though the parks was difficult. If we had known it would be that bad we wouldn’t have gone that morning. It was pretty much a waste of time and money that day. We hopped to HS at 2:00 and it was so much better.
