Good morning from Magic Kingdom!
The sun is shining, the monorail is broken…WAIT, the monorail is broken?! Yep, that’s right folks — perhaps the most popular form of Disney World transportation is currently broken and that means there are some problems at the Transportation & Ticket Center (AKA Magic Kingdom’s parking lot). What’s going on? Well, allow us to show you!
When we arrived, the Express Monorail to Magic Kingdom was experiencing some unexpected downtime. The queue was completely cleared of guests.
Unfortunately, that meant that there was a LONG line for the Ferryboat instead. Crowds were backed up all the way to the monorail station. YIKES!
The ferries can load quite a few guests, but with a line like this, you’ll be waiting a while to get inside the park. However, there were a few other transportation options available.

Disney was also offering bus service from the TTC to Magic Kingdom (something that they only do when things are particularly crowded or for special occasions), and the Resort Monorail was still operational. That was the route we chose to take — it’s about 12 and a half minutes from the TTC to the park, since you have to stop and pick up guests at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian Village resorts.
So this is just your reminder that sometimes things will not go according to plan during your Disney trip. It’s best to budget extra time during your day, so that you can deal with problems like this effectively when they arise. And ESPECIALLY avoid freaking out at the Cast Members — they’re just here to help!
We’ll keep you updated with more Disney news from the parks today, so stay tuned for the latest!
